Zone should have a lottery! But not a trash one like in iEra.
By lottery i mean one like the lottery in Era PC. By this i mean:
NPC of Tashkin (enybody actually) Standing in the Unstick Me area.
Tickets cost 100 gralats and players are allowed to buy up to 100 of them. The more tickets you buy the greater chance of you winning but you can still lose as it is about LUCK.
Since this would be in the spawn an easily accesible, the lottery would actually be active.
Lottery drawing is every week and there are 3 winners.
-Even though each ticket costs 100, each bought ticket would add 150 gralats to the "Jackpot" so it will be actually attractive to participate in.

100 gralats is 1 win in showdown. This would attract more people to showdown.
100 gralats is mining a mission or two. This would attract people to missions.

Imagine a pie chart. The lottery will already have a certain "slice" (%) of the chance to make you lose.
Note these are examples and not actual content.
Heres some math for you:

Lottery percent= 100.
4 players.
players 1,2, and 3 buy 1 ticket. If player 4 also buys on ticket then it will not 25% chance on winning as of the "death slice of pie".
So lets say 20% of winning between these 4 players= 80% for somebody to win.
Drawing #1= PLAYER 1 WINS YAY! *drum roll*
Drawing #2= Death percent has won. This means none of the players win anything, and now there will only be 2 players to distribute the prize IF a player wins in 3rd drawing. *DRUM ROOOOL*
Drawing #3= Player 2 WINS YAY!
Lottery npc does quick calculation and gets the following:
600 gralat prize.
2 players have won, 1 failed drawing.
600/2= 300.
The two winning players now get 300 added to profile! Yay!
But i thought u said theres 3 winners?
Yes there is 3 DRAWINGS, and possibility for 3 winners. This is to prevent players from buying gralat packs to automatically win the lottery. If you spend 28,500 gralats on tickets, you might still lose but you would of had 2-3% chance better of winning over the 60 other players playing.
Heres the math for somebody really lucky:

Over a week, 50 players participate, each buying 1 ticket!
100/50= 2% per players.
Because of the death %, 2% reduces.
Each players has 1.4% chance of winning.
.5% from each player's chance is chomped by the death%.
The death slice has a 25% chance of ruining a player's day.
Players have a 75% chance of winning and laughing at the players who got cut off by the death slice heheheheeee....
Hayze is a rich greedy player, he wants to steal the lottery. He buys 2 tickets instead. Wow! The extra ticket he bought steals back a small percent back from the "death slice". Hayze is feeling lucky he swallowed 5 horseshoes, ate a leprechaun, and ate the luckycharms factory. The extra ticket got him 1% more in winning!
drwng1= Hydra wins! Yus i won!
drwng2= The drawing stop on 76. If hayze wouldnt buy that ticket then nobody would win this drawing, but since hayze had this small boost of percent and was SOOOO lucky, he wins this round yay
drwng3= Player42 wins!
Hayz's xtra ticket raised the jackpot to: 7,650 gralats.
Jackpot per winner: 2,550
Everybody got 2,550 gralats!

- Note that the percent each ticket gets you would NOT be 1% and the "death slice" would not be so big. The extra % for each ticket would not only give u a bigger chance of escaping the death% but also have an advantage over other players.
I hope thats all, hopefully no mistakes, and if this lottery math doesnt work then we can always ask the developers from Era PC to give us their lottery scripts.

Would be interesting to see. We could try and test it out some time and see how well it works. Time frame for it being added: there isn't one right now.

I suggest making a Lottery building instead of being located at start; he'd look too suspicious. And, I call dibs on the NPC.

No building! Thats what destroyed it on iEra. Im guessing 50% or eraians dont know its there. Plus a building would mean you have to walk there, zone-ians are from the future. We are lazy.

Thanks for all the math? I'm just saying, I wouldn't waste a 100 gralats on luck. You'd probably need atleast 1000 gralats to actually have a good chance.

I dont mean for it to be a massive horns against horns competion. I mean for it to be something everybody could pitch in on for fun since 100 is 1 win in showdown or etc as i said above. Plus the lottery drawings are every week, so the jackpot will probably EASILY be over 15k or 5k per player. Unless your lucky a 2 drawings fail and yur the 1 lucky winner who gets 15k ;)!

The lottery system has been completed. Let me give you all a little information on it though. For this lottery you all will be able to buy tickets at 25 gralats each. The drawings for the lottery will be done weekly. I know it was requested that we just put the lottery guy in the gmap, but we decided to do a level for it. Hopefully I will have a sign made for it and will have it available to you all later today. :)

Lottery ticket limit
Put a limit on how many someone can buy. A player told me he had a 75% chance on the Lottery when it had a jackpot of 120,000$. Everyone else had practically none, which isn't fair. So eventually, everyone else started buying more and more tickets to even it out, but of course, the 75% guy bought more. In the end, everyone was broke. Even the 75% guy. The only rich person was going to be the person who will win.

the lottery is all luck. You could buy 99% of the tickets and still lose a ton of money, but most likely you get small gain.
You could buy 0.05% of the tickets, and win huge, but chances are you won't win.
I choose to abstain from luck based activities such as this because they are too stressful.
I fail to see an issue.

What Skill said is true. Just because a player buy a bunch of tickets and gets a higher odd percentage doesn't mean that they will win. This is entirely based on luck. I am going to make a Poll shortly on the time frame for the event.

There is no such thing as luck. Only chance. Players who buy more tickets have a higher chance of getting the jackpot, which can go up to $200,000.

Chance is a synonym for luck... which means there is such a thing as luck. Just because you have a higher "chance" at winning does not mean you will win.

But it's more likely. Although I see your point, with as long as someone else buys a ticket they don't have a certain win.
