Player impersionation.
 

hi all, this post is to say that there is a player who is impersonating me put my head on my body and my name is saying it is the original, and I'm fake.
People who really know me know that the true self has 6000 hours and has nothing private
administrators have tried to do something, but they spend the topic say I'm not like them, just do something when they implanted identity, but players can not do anything, so I have to keep biting back and continue listening to crap about my since it is clear that they will not do anything.

They can't do anything about it, I had the same issue and nothing happened

Technically it's against the code of conduct of Graal.. However, it's a tricky subject to enforce if it's just a player, and not an admin.



However, if a player is literally impersonating (I.E. looks, name, and is literally saying that he's the real one and tries to info from other people with your identity 'n such, then it's pretty illegal, and he can/should be dealt with.)

Someone did it to me and scammed loads of items in my name, he even hacked a tag some how. I've got a screenshot just don't know how to upload it from my iPhone.

I still have my impersonator added on my noob account :P I wouldn't doubt if it was Toasty (or the person is continuously trying to be Toasty, doubt it though), though he didn't have my head or look, just claimed it was me to my friends trying to ask if he could "borrow" an umbrella.

He's been doing that with other accounts as well trying to get something out of them

Get something like 4media ipod to pc; free trial and works decently well.






Or you could always jailbreak, do OpenSSH and just do it via wifi.

or email it to himself and post on the computer.

anyway, what harm could he do with your identity now that trade tables are out? Maybe he just likes your name or something, as there are many players who go by the same name at some point.

If they have the same name, it doesn't matter. But when they start claiming that their main is someone elses account and tries to get something from you then it becomes a problem. Especially for people who fall for it.

Oh right, the guy is saying that he's the real and the reals the fake. That sucks, I guess. Just make sure your friends add you so they know it's the real you or something.

The problem is that people can steal graphics using ifile. Just the other day, someone posted gang bodies on some website for public download. And long before that a leaders head was taken from ifile. If there's a way to keep customs from getting ripped, let's do it. Is there anyway to "hide" the files from ifile?

I'm sorry, but I don't think they can do anything about it. I've had an impersonator for the last couple months too, but I couldn't do anything about it and stopped really caring. I can understand where mystickk is coming from: an old friend of mine that doesn't play much anymore thought he was the real me when he asked for an item and gave it to her, and she was going to give him a taser when she got the ec for it. Luckily I caught her before she did though

Staff impersonation is understandable since the player can get vital information about a user, and misuse it. But player impersonation... 'Player is impersonating me, he has same name as me'. It just wouldn't work out.

It happened to me,like why does everyone want others customs,don't they want theirs to be diverse?

Isn't impersonating people online against the law or something? That's maybe just only when it comes to serious business, and not a phucking game.

That is why in other games you cant change your nickname

I have several impersonators. They're all inactive accounts that just so happen to share my IP.

I said to lollo and the player insulted him and lollo tel him he is a Player relations and , he said he change his name to an other and now he put the name of my bro i think many people know him is Gon and now the player impresonate gon.

Surely people can see who is real by looking at a gang you are in or own?

Im quite sure it works like this: for example a random player that you havent seen earlier (atleast not since you redownloaded/downloaded the app) enters the room. then the server ask the client ( your idevice or android platform) if the client have the file(s) (body, head, hat) as the person is wearing. if the client returns a no the server will close to instantly download the custom for you. By doing this it saves it into your graal folder making it a easy target for you (or anyone else). The only way i would see this being fixed is if all the graphics was saved serverside instead of clientside (as it is doing right now) which will have both pros and cons. The pros of doing this is:

- No graphic stealing.

Cons:

- Increased server lag (not a whole lot but still some lag).
- People can become invisible if everything doesnt work as planned.
- Custom could easly turn out wrong and not as they are intended.

I agree that custom have to get improved security because it happens to everybody. it has even happen to me once. but seeing how much bad things this method could produce is just making me more and more unsure about it.

Just tell them your in my list, you should know its me. I had a impersonator once who scammed a player and people thought it was real me. But I did nth and ignored it cause I'm not involved in it and its obviously I'm the leader of a gang they should know. Always tell them to check your gang if your a leader or think of something to let them know its real you. Many has the same hours, kills like you.

By the way, impersonators only impersonate those with high rates and likes that they are jealous of and wants to ruin their rep* keep that in mind cause this is what they intend to destroy of a trustful player.

Some guy named Soft Kitty was impersonating a ton of my friends today, I found it rather annoying.

I like the idea of set usernames... And the ability to "status update" which lets you put something after your name, but there'd have to be something diverse separating the name and status, maybe a font color change? 3 spaces?
