I hate the GST. Players who mainly spar have given a bad name for themselves. The way I look at it most of them are arrogant assholes who ignore everything you say. It's really why I don't bother attending unless in getting paid to.

GST isn't rigged, US loses, they also have members kicked for being laggy. I personally think it would be nice if an admin could walk out into the field where everyone can see and explain why they restart some rounds, but they do restart some rounds to be fair. I actually wish GST took a little longer also, to give a little more time before each match for teams to get all their players ready.
I can find someone in the main spar that's pretty cocky, but not every day. I don't think sore losers are something specific to sparring either. I did feel like I had to endure a lot of pc hate before the majority of the server got over that. |
Back onto the topic of this tread, what Clops says is 99.99% accurate.
|
Clops hit the nail right on the head on all subjects. I do want to put emphasis on one fact he pointed out; Arrogance is not limited to, and should not only be associated with, sparring.

I think GST is fine it serves as a break from towering for a lot of the guilds. I have purposed ways to change it up or add to it in other threads. I think they could have singles spar tourny,or a team tourny (group of 2-5). Idk how it works exactly, but maybe with smaller teams there wouldn't be an issue of having players on and ready.

GST is just meh to me, I come from PC where tag team spars are the team-based sparring format and it's much prefered. Obviously that can't be done because of time restraints on iClassic, but I just find the GSing thing to be disorienting and annoying.
I can see how it would be enjoyable to the average person who doesn't spar very often though. Their only expectation is to probably get past the first round and get their GST lobby prize. Also, if you guys avoid sparring because the BA community is mean to you then quit being a little girl. I get people talking trash to me every day and I just ignore it and queue. I have to deal with losers like Ethereal Mirage telling weird and fabricated fairy tales about how I'm some mythical spar hacker from PC Graal who can extend the length of my sword (what) and "blink longer," and then there are the freaks who go on an alternate account just to follow you around and harass you over a spar win or loss. IDK, just forget about the social aspects of the game if you actually care to spar. I agree that 90% aren't likable and that's why I enjoy beating them. |
I thought everybody who spars knows there gonna get hated on by "pro" sparrers? I've always been called noob or a lagger when I beat one of the them.
|
You must consider more people pro than I do. I don't know of any "pro" that calls people noob. Everyone complains about lag on this server. It's really laggy.
|
I'm not a fan of how guild sparring is done here on this version. It's all over the place, hard to be consistent, and in my opinion -- less consistent in regards to true skill levels/ceilings.

It's not really a surprise that people who don't spar and otherwise have no realistic chance of winning a GST don't exactly have a positive opinion about it. I find the general resentment towards sparrers to be pretty hilarious though so I encourage it more.

I came up with a new format as part of the GST. GST Draft-Players would go to battle arena and put in 500-1k to join a draft pool. Then either players will be selected at random to be the captain of the guild that will select the remaining players in the pool but are not allowed to see there spar stat.
Or all the players in the pool are randomly placed into guilds with other randomly selected players Until all guilds spots are evenly filled. goes by first come first serve meaning the first ones to pay and sign up for the draft get picked first. The remaining participants will get put on a reserve list and if a player isn't online at the designated tournament spar time an currently online member of the reserve pool is sent a pm asking if they want to join the spar team and to come to the arena within 5-10 minutes. People complain about pro spar guilds dominating the GST's, So I thought it might be good to come up with a do-able format to randomize the teams to allow for new winners every GST. So how about it peeps? A GST type draft tournament? You might get pros you might get stuck with noobs. |
I think the gst is fun, the prizes are cool(i only have the whistle so far xD)
but people in the BattleArena are mean, like honestly, i beat this one guy once, he spammed me saying "Lucky" "you noob", so i rematch-ed him and beat him again...what happens? he keeps spamming me "you just got lucky" so i just ignore him...honestly some people need to abate their ego Quote:

People in the battle arena are mean, one time someone called me Lucky for winning. Oh how he was so mean!
