Miley said she wanted not to be pictured as hannah montana, but as a new person. She did take it a bit far though.

Actors and actresses like attention. If they're off the publicity board, they'll do almost anything to get back on it. Looks like Miley's plan worked, this thread being evidence of that.

She's just being herself, she'll probably (most likely) will end up like Lindsay Lohan but just let her, she knows what she's doing and she knows what the effects are.

As for her VMA performance, she's twerked before so what's the big deal? Why isn't anyone ranting about robin thicke? He has a wife and a kid and he still let Miley do things to him.

In all seriousness, my theory is that Miley Cyrus is lashing out against the personality and expectations that Disney put on her as a child. She was a PRODUCT of Disney. She had to do and be everything they told her to be as if being a teenager wasn't hard enough.
Maybe this "new" Miley is really what her personality is like but I'm sure its just her pushing back against all the years she was forced to be Hannah Montana.
I don't wish someone to suffer from drugs or mental illness but that seems like the road shes going down.

Umm just cause she twerks she's on drugs? Funny how this debate would have never come up if she wasn't a pretty lil white country girl and was infact black. However I for one isn't surprised on the latest news about her being a racial image since the dance twerking is a representative of african-American culture. Although i dislike her i say let her live her life to many gossip going around on this, look at the smith's family reaction i laugh so hard cause all i could think about is willow smith music video wasn't any different and there facial expression was my own reaction back then.

I have to say, that was some pretty stupid **** she did on stage. I understand she's not Hannah Montana anymore, and I'm not saying that's who she has to be. Still, I think that was taking it too far.

Assuming people actually care. There are plenty of child stars that have moved of past their happy typecasting and moved on to more mature/adult roles. Miley has however faded into oblivion and is now screaming for attention in the most desperate way possible... And sadly it worked. Any publicity is good publicity, and she yas gotten a lot of publicity from that little show.

There are people being killed from chemical gas in Syria, innocent children and women and men, as well as a giant debacle over whether to wipe Syria off the face of the earth, and America's first path of discussion is Miley Cyrus twerking off Robin Thicke at some stupid Award Show for music videos?

God dammit, people, have some sense. I know this world is going to hell from all the idiots who have replaced decent people anyways, but seriously, this is almost sickening to know that people care more about some low life twerking teenager who has to demean herself in such a way just to keep half a career than actual world issues.

Why is it every week I find ten thousand more reasons why I hate society? Stupidity is soon going to overcome the world, I swear. The human race is slowly becoming stupid, lazy, and inhumane. I'm sorry, but I have nothing but complaints for this thread.

I'm not complaining about the talking, I'm complaining about the topic in general. I'm not mad about anything, I'm irritated. As for decent people, of course there will, nothing is 100%. And I only speak for myself, not America. If you honestly think I'm stupid for complaining that I hear more about Miley Cyrus than the people dying in Syria, then you seriously do not understand any part of my thinking, and I can also assume that you must clearly misinterpret the concept of an Opinion. So please, go on about how I'm stupid for expressing an opinion about the general topic, not just a thread.

Why do people still keep pulling the Syria card? A lot of Americans don't concern themselves with the crises in Syria because it's depressing and disheartening news, and - believe it or not - a majority of people don't enjoy that. Even if they were to concern themselves about it, what power does the average American citizen have in interfering with their affairs? I can understand if you're angry at general population of America sympathizing more with a single dead dog (Hawthorne shooting) over the deaths in Syria, but like I said, most people don't like reading or discussing these kinds of topics.

There are other discussion topics that exist, the crises in Syria are not the only thing we are allowed to talk about, and people actually enjoy discussing other things. If you don't like a particular discussion topic, don't discuss in it. Simple as that, really.
