Midori Meets a Gralat Scammer

I was walking around the map today when I saw a player making a very generous offer to "hack" all of the gralats in my farm into black gralats. This is what happened next:

The following is taken from my video description:

WARNING: Never trust anyone who says they can "glitch" or "hack" all of the gralats in your farm into black. This is a scam to steal everything inside your farm.

(I cut out parts of the video where nothing was happening while I waited for him to type his replies. This explains why he appears to type so quickly in the video.)

How this scam works: The scammer offers to "hack" the gralats in your farm and turn them all into black gralats (worth more than 9000). However when you invite them into your farm, one of three things can happen;

1. Your farm is empty - The scammer leaves and never talks to you again.
2. Your farm has unlocked gralats - The scammer takes them, leaves and never talks to you again.
3. Your farm has locked gralats - The scammer tells you that you need to unlock your gralats in order for their "hack" to work. You unlock your gralats, and they take them all, leave and never talk to you again.

There is no such thing as a "black gralat glitch" or "black gralat hack", never trust anyone who tells you they can do it for you. Always remember to lock any gralats in your house or guild house by double-tapping on them (you will see a message stating that the gralat is locked from visitors or everyone).

UPDATE: As you can see from this video, I reported this scammer twice with around two minutes' time in between each report. Staff have failed to respond to both reports, and I can confirm that this thief is still out there stealing gralats. He is not the only one, there are many other players who use similar tactics to steal from other players' farms or even take your entire account, and they keep changing their looks and names to make it harder to catch them. Don't fall for their tricks.

Be careful with scammers.

wildkeldeo 08-30-2013 07:34 PM

Nice xD!!! I did that before with Era Droppables.

I had fun watching him get lost in that HARD maze. XD

Thanks, may tell me how do I join a guild now?

Seriously, and not even hating but your post are going downhill, not those "interesting, enjoyable" posts anymore, more like useless and kind of a joke.. a bad one.

Lol I thought that to.

Tbh, people stupid enough to fall for these tricks deserve to be scammed. It's only karma for someone that wants to exploit to get unlimited gralats to have it stolen.

I don't scam, but I don't have an issue with stuff like that.

Yami 08-30-2013 11:15 PM

No offense, but I think you are forgetting about unsuspecting noobs who fall for this just looking to get rich quick, and not knowing any better. It's not fair to them. At least with the maze "scams" if you want to call them that your just getting ppl to drop a few bombs for you and not raping gralats from somebody or doing real harm to them.

To Midori: You handled that brilliantly. How much real time elapsed through that whole thing? I hope they hire more gp's soon so they can deal with scammer's like that guy.

So, the younger children who don't know better deserve to be taken advantage of? What you just said, you're basically saying a kid who gets into a van for wanting candy deserves rape.

Anyways, may we stay on-topic now?

They're wanting to exploit the game and basically break the rules, they think their gralats are legitimately getting hacked. They're basically showing that they would cheat if they could. As a result, they get their gralats taken showing as a lesson that cheating is bad.

Comparing rape to losing money on a videogame is just not right, I don't know how you could even make that comparison, even I do get the point.

You are certainly entitled to that opinion and I can see where you are coming from. I apologise that I have not been able to spend as much time and thought as ideally possible into new posts. The video is actually the second of a two-part series on teaching players on how to avoid being tricked, not intended to be a joke. (part one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLMC_nfdO4k)

A fair few newer or younger players do not even know what "hack" means and think it is just an in-game feature. Sure, they may be naïve but their lack of experience does not constitute reason to be scammed. Those who do know about illegal exploits (so-called "hacks") also know better than to trust someone who randomly offers to use their exploits to give them large benefits without asking for something in return.

You are right: It is unacceptable for players to request use of illegal means to obtain in-game items. But it is also unacceptable for others to take advantage of this to perform their own illegal acts. Ultimately both types of people are seeking to profit from unfair or illegitimate means and this is the fundamental attitude I want to highlight and discourage.

The entire incident lasted for more than ten minutes. At the time of this forum post, I can confirm that this scammer is still active and has stolen several hundred more gralats since I submitted my reports.

We do care, it's just that there aren't Graal Police in every time zone of the world, so there are time periods where no one is active, unfortunately.

Are they still hiring gps? I havent seen the global broadcast messages asking ppl to apply in awhile. I would think if what you said is true they would be hiring at least a couple more to fill in the gaps. It wouldn't make since to me to have like 6 gp's all in one time zone and none in another. And even if somebody submits and app from a certain time zone that doesn't neccisarily dictate what times they will be available to be on their admin accounts.

Yes they are. There just haven't been any broadcasts. Four or so have been hired in the past several weeks, in fact.

People all have different schedules to work around in order to be part of Graal Police, but generally speaking, someone from a timezone in Australia could be online when it is the dead of night in the USA while most GPs in America are sleeping.

Personally, I answer all legitimate questions people ask; you wouldn't have gotten a response if what you asked was on the lines of "I have a question" or "can u host an event plz".

I know they have hired a hand full of new admins, but I still don't see how you can allow there to be no one on to "police" a game like this for a decent period of time. I would think when they do the skype interview of a potential admin candidate they would ask their general hours of availability for the foreseeable future.

I don't think somebody should get disqualified from being an admin because of the time zone they live in. For example: If there's 6 admins from the est usa timezone and another good candidate from the same time zone applies are they less likely to get the spot because there are all ready a half dozen gp's in that time zone and they don't figure that the new candidate while likely be on at the needed time?

I noticed the thread made by Rufus about applying for a gp position has been closed. I would think it should have remained open in case players have questions about becoming a gp. Imo there could be more detailed info about applying and the gp hiring process in the thread as well. I.E. how long it should take to get a response, when or how often to re-apply. Maybe updated posts on which hours they are currently looking for an potential admin to fill, how many current openings there are, ect.

Reports are useless as I've experienced a problem where someone was actually able to get into my account by getting my IP or whatever it is you needed to get into someone's account(This was before the email verification update).

I had reported the guy multiple times, nothing was done. So I found an active admin who had responded to my personal message saying "Someone got into my account." Guess what they told me? "Send in a report"(So much for reading reports). The admin did something after the fact that I had pm'd them, which now a question comes to mind... Why is there even a report button anymore?

In the end, the only way to contact admins about a problem is to email them, but not even then were my problems solved. So its clear to me that the report button is useless in more ways then one.

With account related issues like a scammed account regular GPs don't have the power to do anything about it so they leave a message to a GPA so they can deal with it. I would always notify the person that I left a GPA a message but I guess not all GPs do.

Edward 09-22-2013 12:36 AM

I guess I have to understand the fact that being a GP/PR is a lot of work. I hate them, but i've learned to appreciate their work. Like Herb said, no one will ever appreciate their work. If someone popular is hired, we complain. If some noob no one knows is hired, we complain. This opened my eyes and now I've learned that doing what they do is hard. So I have to forgive and forget the past, although this will never stop me from complaining.

I'm not a gp so idk how it works, but I would think when they get a report the responding gp's name would be on it. That gp's nickname would be sent to the reporting player, and he would be able to use that to pm the responding gp to get an update on the situation until the matter has been completed. That gp's nickname could be also used to report them to a GPA if the reporting person is not satisfied with the out come.

I think it would be nice if they added an option in one of the menus to click on a button and see which admins are online. Maybe next the admins nickname it would say available in green lettering or unavailable in red lettering just to make it easier to report a problem and to speak to a gp directly. I don't like wasting time searching around trying to find out which gp is online at the time.

Just to add to my earlier post in this thread. Imo they should start a new thread about becoming an admin with more detailed info. A description of the admin branches(gfx,gp,dev team),what they do,the requirements you have to meet, and how to get hired into each particular branch with a link to an application, ect.

4-Lom 09-23-2013 08:55 AM

Report works... but only if some one is lookin at it. I have had response within 3 minutes to reports I made before... have a little faith, but know they are only human :)
