Tyler 09-19-2013 02:03 PM

I know right? It went so low-key I just realized today.

For some reason, all the photos didn't upload, but Pyrats have .25 health now after their .5, and their "blink" seems to have been extended.

I guess I'll have to kill one to see how hard it is. It would be dumb to make the only decent daily method of gralat earning more difficult.

Dusty changed it so arrows and bombs don't do as much damage as a sword.

What a laugh. Sword does even worse against a horde of Pyrats.

Dusty 09-19-2013 06:01 PM

They don't have more health, arrows and bombs just do less. It now takes 8 bombs to kill them instead of 6, because of the potential for bombs to confuse and trap, and more importantly kill many at once. Arrows will probably be buffed back up to the same damage as swords(in fact, they now do).

Arrows, but not bomb and horse fire?

This, and their drops were severely reduced. Used to be that I could collect around 300 bombs from them while getting the daily quest done. Now it's not even 100.

My feels on this are that it should be one or the other - lowered damage is reasonable, and the number of people hanging around that area have definitely decreased, but it feels so hollow going through and not being able to get any other reward other than what that stingy guard near the gate hands out.

OH, and by the way, the baddies in the underground cave in Oasis were effected by this as well!

slyde 09-20-2013 07:34 AM

Well theres a chance for pyrat baddies dropping two eyepatches so its cool.

orly? there have been occasions where i get 2 eyepatches.

Aaron 09-21-2013 04:41 AM

I just think it should be changed back.

Zoologist 09-21-2013 01:20 PM

Why?

randomuser3954 09-21-2013 04:44 PM

The reason admins did this was basically so people would buy more gralat packs. It's making it harder to make GRALATS quickly by the update.

Hampton 09-21-2013 05:22 PM

Just use your sword :0 arrows/bombs aren't necessary to kill them.

Oh god, give it a damn rest. I don't give a **** if you buy gralat packs or not. In fact, I'd rather stimulate sales via happy players than forcing you with shady practices.

Good point. Now, with the implication of having bombs and arrows drop every time you die, it really does counteract the possibility of using bombs and arrows consistently. We could of course still buy them for the lowered price, or use our sword. Anyways, I just really enjoyed being able to get quick cash and baddy kill before the change. Seems as though that's all I really did on Classic since last year, kind of stopped playing the "game" as a whole.

randomuser3954 09-22-2013 08:51 AM

I'm always happy when I buy gralat packs because I have a lot of money irl, but not everyone does and you're making it harder for poor people to make gralats in game.

4-Lom 09-23-2013 08:11 AM

It seems to have been adjusted :) Thanks!

Never spend real money on Gralat packs. By the time I realized how stupid I was for buying all of them it was too late. I have like $400 total maybe invested in Gralat packs. I am extremely disappointed in myself.

The Pyrat quest was already a boring, monotonous slog.

It didn't need ANYTHING to further that ;(

Yes, because making baddies not completely glitchy, and in fact somewhat smart is making it MORE boring.

Xavier 09-24-2013 05:38 AM

Dusty worked pretty hard on this update so that players could have a smoother, more intelligent experience killing baddies, guys. Give it a rest.

I think it because people tend to steal others patches and some boost kills there.

I didn't mean to sound rude - I was under the impression that the baddies were just given a buff without changing anything else. I wasn't aware they were made more intelligent etc.

My apologies; I should have checked before complaining

Well they were completely recoded from scratch, so with it comes a few thing like being more intelligent, but more importantly more responsive and fun to fight:

> They're much easier to hit for a multitude of reasons, including larger hit boxes(you don't have to be so close to register a hit) and it registers if you have hit them on your screen, not on the server(so even if you're laggy, you can still fight them).

> They don't get stuck nearly as much as the older ones(like stuck on the corner of your player, constantly trying to get to you instead of attacking).

> They have smarter behavior, and do a better job of trying to follow you, even around corners and such. They'll also do things like walk around bombs and such. I guess this isn't a big deal though, most baddies don't live long enough to really show this sort of thing off.

> They don't swarm the player anymore, only one will "find" and chase you if they see you, rather than ALL of them at once. They kind of have a hive-mind.

> If it fails to be able to drop an item now(gralats, eyepatch... whatever) because it falls on a wall, they now drop where the baddy spawned so they're retrievable.

And as well, because of the changes the Pyrat quest was tweaked to adjust to the new difficulty. There is now a new section of cave with Pyrats in it, as well as spreading them out a bit more and making the caves a bit more spacious. Pyrats also have a low chance of dropping two eye patches. And eyepatches(And for the future, all drops) will now be owned by the person who did the most damage, rather than who got the last hit. Also a lot of bugs have apparently been resolved, such as not being able to get free kills just by sitting in the area.

It was a very rough "launch" but almost all of the old issues have been dealt with and they perform much better than they did when the thread was first made(thanks to all of the posts and such addressing issues. Feedback was mostly useless dribble about how "OMG PYRATS SUCK NOW CHANGE THEM BACK" instead of actually noting issues[like the ones on the gmap being invincible]). A lot of players were just sore though because they weren't as dumb as the old ones, so not as easy to mindlessly farm. But it's at least worth checking out once, but if you don't remember the old baddies it might be hard to really get an understanding of the improvements.

Aaron 09-25-2013 02:45 AM

I didn't really see any issues with the Pyrats before. Besides it freezing every now and then. I just liked the fact that there was something I could quickly and easily to get gralats, not to mention the fact that I could pick up baddy kills as well. But it's w/e, one more thing I can't do to have some quick fun. Don't get me wrong, most of those "issues" truly have been fixed. Ggs Dusty...ggs.
