Is Zone sociable??
 

Now lemme just say... This post might be kinda long so read at your own risk. Okay? Okay.

This thread might make you all say WTF o-o yea it is sociable but hear me out. I started Zone when it came out but quit due to it being boring fast. I decided to come back in November and now have 150 hours but thats past the point. Now, I'm a guy who is really shy...Yes, I consider myself anti-social only because I'm shy to speak to new people. Not only that, but I always feel if I pm a person I want to have a chat with, I feel I annoy them. I have only one friend from Zone and that because she used to play Era with me. Everyone else on my friend list? From Era and Classic. Shoot, I have 3.8k hours on Era and not even near 25 friends. That how bad I am socializing. It really sucks when you got nice people out there that are willing to chat with ya and you feel shy...Zone too me is truly a gem and is currently the only server I have on my iPod. I know it would be much more fun if I can have friends on here to speak too but I doubt even that will happen if I can't break this shyness. A 17-year old black guy that is shy now where have you heard of that? So if Zone is sociable, think I got a chance?

Post your opinions on my little story and feel free to answer the question.

Hmm, i can relate to this as graal can be a lonely game. I mean come on none of my friends even play graal in real life and friends you make in graal you will most likely never meet at all.

As for you being shy i can tell you that being on graalians will be the best thing for you. Why? Well you can get "internet friends" that you can then speak too. And i guess you may just have to engage more at somepoint

Somehow I rarely am shy on Graalians to public post but if I wanted to PM somebody not on my friends list on here, I would be way too shy to do so.

Well i guess you feel comfortable on graalians but when you move away from it (just playing zone) i guess you just freeze up?

Weird right? Go on Zone and try to talk to people but as you said I just freeze up. And it happens here on Graalians too only if I want to pm someone on here...Ugh, it sucks.

Personally, I've found that its easiest to met people through joining squads-- maybe help a squad thats basing or join some other social squad. Its awkward at first, but once u get more comfortable, it gets way easier and, even if u dont stay in the squad, u still might have a couple people you met from that squad.

Well, it depends on who really, you have to take a chance with who to talk to just the other day I was called a noob for supposedly calling someone else a noob, so some people will lie for attention but I agree with Latte I would join a squad, lucky for me I met a friend from classic and we play together in a squad. I also try to be nice to most people I meet say if I am on a 48 streak and they kill me I will be like, 'gg, your a good PKer :)'

So thats just some small advice try to get into conversations, don't rage on people and make them mad and finally join a squad.

Latte and Doshy thanks...But until I PM...I doubt joining squads will help me...I would be the quiet one...Not gang chatting at all...It sucks being anti-social because I really want to be social and talk to other people on Zone but its so hard when I'm so shy and choke up on words.

What do you like to do on zone? There's always people with the same interest in doing the same thing. I started out in the same ballpark as you didn't really talk etc. I joined a basing squad and made my way up and we eventually became the first 1k squad on zone. The people in the squad were all good sparrers so I started that. I just kept meeting more and more people as I did more stuff. Gl to you though dude, just take an interest and focus on it and talk to people about that interest, who also have an interest in it.

Thanks! I usually like to pk and streak a lot. Idk but basing not really my thing. I'm more like a pker who attacks the players defending the base. But hey I will try.. Right now my interest is being social cause having zero friends out of 400 average players kinda sucks.

Just a side note...Whats so funny is my status says: I love meeting new people! Shoot me a pm if you wanna talk or have a question BUT I'M TO DANG SHY ._.

I'm very much like you on Graal and in real life. I am very introverted so I know it can be hard to socialize. However just PM someone, anyone. If they reply nicely then that person would be a good candidate to be your friend. If they are rude etc, then they aren't right/don't deserve to be your friend. There are thousands of people on Graal, don't get hung up thinking you are annoying one or two people. Also if they don't want to receive pms they should turn them off, so it's not your fault that you pmed them.

Yeah...I actually am grateful you guys are helping me so thanks. What I fear Unknown is that if someone says hi after I pm them..I just automatically think in my mind oh I'm annoying that person...Its that antisocial thing for me..

It's online - annoy them as much you want, they can block you if they want to, won't hurt anyone. Or you just imagine they're admins and you be a total newb and PM them 24/7, that should work well.

The only person that is ever going to be annoying on graal is the people that rage at you, now if your not a rager and go round raging people and I can see your not then you won't be bugging anyone, you've just got to think that theres people like you on graal everywhere, maybe you should make a squad and recruit people like you on the forums who are shy and help them to overcome this obstacle in not just graal but possibly life.
This would be a good idea.
Also if you can't talk to anyone but friends you will only have one or two, and also if you think your annoying someone just ignore that thought and carry on chatting.

Oh Latte good luck for college! I'm starting fall of this year and I'm nervous as anything....Like I really got to speak to new people when I'm in college but I'm worse in RL then I am in Graal which sucks.

I'm sure many players are happy to talk with other people, I also recommend joining a squad with people who share your interests, e.g. the squad Pokemon if you are interested in pokemon.

Thank you guys for all the support and PMs!! I'm surprised I didn't take the easy way out and be shy but actually kinda talk. Trust me, all who pm me I was shy..Real shy but I got through. Turns out being anti-social means lacking consideration for others and may result in causing damage to the society, whether intentionally or through negligence. So really, I'm just shy to socialize. I still am trying but for now I hope I can fully accomplish this.

Well..Lemme tell u all why I'm kinda shy and scared to meet new people. Guys I was the person always bullied. Every grade...From a bully slamming my head to the table to another bully holding and punching me it never stop. I tried talking when i was younger and always got bullied cause of how I look, how I did in school and so on. If I weren't bullied, trust me I would be social. But bullying affects you especially when you been bullied 10 years of your life. I went through hell..They tore my supplies up, they dirty up my clothes, I got bruised, I was called the annoying one..Thing is..I was soo sad and upset but if there one thing about me..I'm a fighter. i fought for those horrible years at school and home for me was the only safe place. I just lost my ability to speak to people during that time. Bullying hurts guys..It does. My post is not mean to offend anyone I just want to let you know to keep fighting.. zone is a wonderful game and I hope I can accomplish my simple goal: Meet new people and have a good time.

I was bullied too. It still has affected my trust for people ([obligatory THIS IS WHY I HAVE TRUST ISSUES comment]), but it is what it is. As long as you stay determined on your goal, you'll achieve it, bullies or no bullies. u go bro
