A stupid idea?
 
Wouldn't it be fun to have a place, kind of how capture the flag was) but make it thief and police?
Thiefs stealing stuff in an event town and the police running around catching thiefs.
Could reward some police / thief points to buy themed items with?

Not trying to change the subject too much, but what was it necessary to remove CTF? Why couldn't it be changed like houses were changed, just remove the ability to receive more kills. I really liked that game

Because a glitch with the way client handles deaths made it impossible to do anything like that. The way people were boosting were bypassing any sort of scripting logic. I wouldn't have removed it if were was a way to easily fix it.

Aw. I think it should be considered as a team event, similar to freeze tag or that other one team fort

Didn't it start out as an event or something? Or maybe if its no longer useable as sort of a mini game or whatevers, maybe it could still be used as an event type? Would be better than nothing.

I would have liked to have seen it as a guild type mini game. Where there could have been tournaments like the gst,rather than enter and get put on a random team of noobs. If I wanted to do that I would joined SON.

What if people respawned on a specific platform that could not be entered by the enemy team?

Why can't you just make the spawning spots not a pk area for the opposing team?

You guys aren't getting it. When I say it bypasses any sort of scripting logic, I mean it bypasses any sort of scripting logic. I tried many attempts to circumvent the issue, but it's very, very persistent. The biggest issue is that you could even be PKed by your own team members(which is what a lot of players were doing to boost kills). Chances are, no-PK wouldn't have an effect either. The way these deaths were occurring were not being treated like a regular death by the client. You could be killed by team mates, you were dropping items(even if it was disabled), you were gaining kills(even though you shouldn't have).

It's a very terrible glitch and despite emailing Stefan about it, I don't think he's going to fix it. It has something to do with being moved while dead(I think it might be moved, but not to a different map. CTF is all on the same map) and it basically confuses the hell out of the client and server. The server thinks you have full health, the client however does not heal you. Since hit detection is clientside though, it means you die in a single hit, and there's no way to fix it since you can only heal players serverside... which thinks the player has full health already.

This sounds more like an idea for a brand new game, not a minigame for another one, besides when u hear this is more like for Era, but even with Era wouldn't be cool for a minigame... (MY way of thinking)

sounds to me that now that CTF is gone everybody misses it and wants it back. I bet anything if Dusty ever managed to fix the issue and re-opened it after like 3 weeks all the excitement would be gone and the traffic there would die of almost completely.

I think it needed a different format anyways. Get stuck on a random team of people (usually noobs) with uneven numbers and if you manage to win the match you get a very low amount of gralats. Just seems like there could have been more to it. One thing for sure it needed a que entering system to keep the teams/matches even.

Just wondering if CTF isn't ever going to be salvageable. Is there a chance we could get some other multi player mini game to replace it in the future?

Maybe move mount racing in there and make a que system where you can run actual heats against up to like 10 other ppl or whatever and the winner gets like 50 gralats or something. I'm thinking something close to the Chocobo racing in FF7. I figure that's something that all ready at least half exists in the game that wouldn't require as much work as crafting a hole new thing.

CTF is salvagable, but it would require a bit of work. The demand isn't high enough to put everything else aside to get CTF released.
