Graal Classic Android

Hi, my ipod has been broken for months and I havent played graal im a while since then. I recently got a android smart phone and was wondering when the android version will come out. If a admin could tell me a real date it would be appreciated. I heard stefen was going to release it late in febuary. It would be fun to return back to graal. Just wondering if this will come out or if I cant play graal again.

Maverick 12-04-2011 05:17 AM

I'm pretty sure it's still in development.

There's not much information about it. From what i know, there was compatibility issues they're working on.

compatibility?
if they can put Graal on iOS they can surely put it on Android.

it had something to do with in-app purchases

Yephenpeace 12-04-2011 08:16 PM

Thus, compatibility issues ;)

According to Skyld, Classic iPhone 3 is, quote, "not quite" Android.

From what I understand, the basic framework is there, but it's still in development. The programming language is entirely different from iPhone's standards, so some cross-platform work would need to be done.

On top of that, the Android Marketplace is a rather lack-luster and dry place. Not much money is being made there due to the "open-ness" that is allowed. Granted, I love my Android and would see Graal being there as a totally positive thing, but viewed from a company's point, I can definitely see where it is an abyss of doom and destruction.

Due to the open policy of Androids Marketplace, just about anyone is able to upload and sell an App - which has led to a lot of unregulated apps that turn your phone into a paperweight (viruses, scams, keyloggers, information hacking, etc.). So right now, until Android gets it's act together, I can't say that I PERSONALLY see Graal opening up shop there.

That, and the vast array of phones that support Andriod will make hardware spec's hard to regulate or include.

IMO

what about Windows Phone 7?
and Microsoft has minimum hardware requirements for every phone.

Microsoft does, which ends up with their products more in the higher-level of the market. Unfortunately I haven't heard a single whisper about Graal on Windows operated phones. I'll have to ask, but I don't think there's ANY work going on in that area.

just had to ask since I own one.

I think Graal would do good on WP, and get a lot more attention considering the OS is still fairly new and there are no mmo's that I know of on the Marketplace

RenoDorvay 12-07-2011 03:05 AM

I'd love to see Graal on Android. Sure, Android's market might not be as good as the iTunes store, but I think it'll still get players because Androids are typically cheaper and more people have them (at least where I live). Saying that I could be completely wrong and it could fail horrendously.

glitcher 12-07-2011 04:02 AM

But they already had most of the code to port it into iPod, not Android. That's probably a reason why.

Skyld 12-20-2011 11:48 PM

Using the Android NDK, the Graal client has already been ported to Android. It has existed for quite some time now, and it works well on both my HTC Nexus One phone and my Motorola XOOM tablet. It works pretty much identically to the iPhone client, but there are still a few problems that need to be fixed. The wide range of handsets makes compatibility a problem also; there are some differences in the OpenGL stack on some Samsung devices, and lower-end phones with less processing power (HTC Wildfire?) will probably struggle to run the game at all.

There is no definitive release date for it right now, but it will be likely out sometime in Q1 of the new year.

Like the fact on my HTC Desire, Graal couldn't detect standard keyboard input. Likely due to some Sense crap :p

No one used any big words. They're names of phones.
