In-Game Forums.
 

So I recently went on and checked the in-game forums and seem a couple things that imo were not right.

1st thing: Not all staff should be able to moderate the forums. Sound effects staff were hired to make sounds. Graphics Staff were hired to make graphics. ZPs were hired to moderate the players and keep the community clean. In my opinion only ZPs should be moderating the in-game forums because thats what they were hired to do. You dont hire ZPs to script or make levels.

2nd thing: Ive seen multiple threads about threads being deleted and closed because the question was answered. In my opinion threads should only be closed in the Q&A section of the forums. Just like how shmegg said "The main section of the forums is to dicuss updates and etc"... There is a specific place for everything and closing threads or deleting them because the question was answered is wrong. The purpose of zones in-game forums is to discuss the game itself right? Let the players discuss the game then. Closing and deleting threads in insensitive and unnecessary except in the Q&A section.




1 more thing... kinda offtopic but i dont wanna make another thread for it. 100k pk reward? Aero worked hard to reach 100k pks and he didnt recieve anything. not even a congratulations for being the first player on zone to reach 100k pks broadcast msg. I mean hat chasers get a hat for getting recruited to a squad... IPandavi will also have 100k pks soon as well. And soon enough zone will have an angry mob of 100k pk players.

If the thread was deleted, just delete it completely not still showing it. Saw many.

PKs, anyone can boost that, there's no particular reward for that. But, at least give a broadcast msg congratulating those who had 100k or even 1,000k pk lol

Simply put, those players are just wanting to use the power given to them. So any chance they see, they take it.

OT: I've seen Ryan (I think that's his name), answer a question wrong, close the thread. Then when another person made a thread pointing out his mistake, he deleted both threads so his mistake was hidden. What I'm saying is, just because a staff member answered a question, doesn't mean they're right.

Knowing this kind of "Fix this" thread, it will flame over until it's closed months later.

I'll try to sum up my whole opinion on this in one post and not post here again after. I have no say in what actually happens with the forums so this is just my opinion.

All departments have rights to moderate forums because all departments have client access and are allowed to spend time in game, why not let them moderate the forums while they are at it? There is a "secret" staff subforum that has all the rules for deleting/editing/closing posts for each individual thread. And as far as I have seen all of these rules are being followed by all staff that are moderating the forums. Some may be a little more stricter than others (which is what I figure players dont like). And in all honesty I dont think the ZP team is large or active enough to do all the in game stuff and moderate forums at all times. There are times I log on late at night and not a single ZP is even online.

So to sum it up, it looks to me like there is just a few players getting pissy over being called out on not being allowed to "share their opinion" (harass a staff member through the forums) and claim its power abuse, when, like in past events similar to this it is just the staff member doing as they have been told.

As for 100k pk rewards, I do agree with you on that. I'll see if I can get a project started on that after I get some other updates out of the way.

Ono. im not mad about anything i just think that players should be able to discuss the game. And atm yeah there arent enuf zone patrol members. But i still think only zps should moderate the forums. The extra help may be helpful but its still not why they were hired and there would be too many moderators once(if) zone has more zps.

Anyway though, the problem with having a forums is that you need a lot more ZP than you should, that being since you really cant monitor the actual game and forums efficiently at the same time, especially hours where there are a small amount of ZP on. And tbh I don't think Cassie is going to hire enough ZP to have staff on all day moderating the forums and game (hey I could be wrong). So really I don't see an issue with having support for the forums at no cost. It's almost like saying devs shouldn't be allowed to answer player questions, because thats not what we are there for.

Forum moderation has been limited to only Zone Patrol members. However, if you suspect abuse, please tell me and I can remove their moderation rights. (After investigation, of course).

Thats true. But they can still answer the questions. just not close the thread to prevent further discussion... which can very likely lead to another question. Which is another reason why i dont understand this- Answer then close- thing. Nd yeah some players got a little carried away xd.

I suggest you get some ideas from players on the pk leaderboards. Im sure you have great ideas but in my opinion its better to find out what the pkers would like as a 100k prize before anything is done:D

OH OH OH OH I KNOW FOR THE 100,000 PK AWARD! MAKE A GUN THAT COST 200K AND HAVE IT TOTALLY SUCK ASS!

in all seriousness though for 100k pks you should not get some crappy hat. You deserve a upgrade that once you hit 100,000 kills you buy a upgrade for 10k. Also you can buy anyone of these upgrades everytime you get 100,000 kills (100, 200, 300 etc etc)
These upgrades are
2 graalets for every kill
1 free gun
1 free melee
or 20 free custom upload tokens that you can sell to other players for graalets.
This will keep tons of players hooked on zone.

1. We have limited deleting and closing threads to only ZP's and higher staff.

2. Questions should only be asked in the Q&A or we will delete them. We are tired of the posting in the incorrect Topic. These topics are getting spammed with many different things that belong in a different topic. So I have staff delete them. However, if they are deleting things they shouldn't be as we found out some were let us know. Want to post then post in the correct topic it's that simple.

Some of those ideas are cool but too op lol. I think a special melee would be cool. If a gun was to be given out for 100k pks it would have to be able to compete with the higher tier weapons for people to like it which wont happen.a free gun would be unfair to those who payed for their weapons maybe a special gun skin?custom skin for a gun of their choice? 2 gralats every kill is kinda pointless since we have the bounty system. free custom uploads? not bad but would the staff like this and would the players like it?

Not old holiday guns. Maybe unreleased guns but I still think a personal gun skin for a weapon or your choice is way better.

a personal gun skin would work as an option. Unreleased guns no, those guns would be unstable. I am for old holiday guns since they are those limited edition guns that everyone buys. Zones population is low. If you want people to stay on a game, its not hard. Era got the message, you give players what they want. **** dude why do you think era gives out so many free EC? Keep people playing, that's why, im not going to lie one of the reasons why I kept on playing era was for the free EC so I could buy new guns and melees. In zone the community just seems to go nuts over holiday weapons. What do you do? simple. Give them what they want. For free. Once you miss out on the chance to buy a holiday weapon, its gone forever unless you get pks. Let me tell you, some of those holiday weapons are damn good and people would take their time to get some of them.

if my idea was implemented the awards should be lowered down to 10,000 pks. Because 10,000 kills is a lot and it takes over 100 hours to achieve 10,000 kills. Plus they will probably be spending money on the APRs so zone would be making a huge profit to top it off. This type of stuff works. I can guarantee it.
