What do you think can be done to improve towering?

Title speaks for itself!

Nothing but less delayers, hackers, laggers, people that decide " Hey lets annoy these guys because we feel like it! " instead of pking like normal people. Otherwise its fine for now.

Reward tiers need to be completely restructured. People rinse and repeat guilds at 1000 hours because the 1000-hour reward tier makes no sense vs. 5000 and 10,000.
"I can make 5 guilds with 1000 hours and give out 5 different hats to 125 people, or I can get 1 guild to 5000 hours and give out 2 different hats to 75 people." I wonder what people will choose? Structure the rewards so that players will want the reward at 10,000 more than 5000, and 5000 more than 1000. That isn't hard.

There needs to be added incentive to hold towers that makes it a little more fun and rewarding. Getting hours is cool, but I just lead 2 guilds to 1000 hours at Sardon's and never lost the fort a single time while I was online. Voxel had about 4 serious attacks against us. Special Forces has 2 or 3. It was pretty boring. Incentivize attacking and taking forts.
I honestly don't know how they can achieve that, but that's the only way towering can be "fun" to me. Holding forts is boring, taking them is cool. It's as if you're penalized for having a strong guild that holds a fort like Sardon's. People assume they can't take it from you, so nothing happens. You just sit there for 1000 hours straight.

The "ally" system needs to be reworked. I just think it's kind of stupid the way it works now.

Lag blocking needs to be fixed. There are ways to prevent it through clever scripting, staff just haven't done it yet.

make stefan buy a new wifi port for graal.

Another chat only for leaders and co-leaders, i'm not intrested in most of the messages and orders get lost in a sea of spam. It's so annoying. A different notification for PM might work to. That way the chitty chat wont mix with lead orders and friends personal messages.

remove 1k hats & replace it with a different prize. Hat for 5k & Keep 10k mount

DraGun 04-02-2014 11:50 PM

Add a variety of weapons. They can vary from sword, bow bombs, boomerang or any special items that would create some interesting gameplay. Maybe they could add actual weapons that you can buy, customize and improve? More options for earning gralats.

I used to play this game back in 2010-2012. Those were the best years while on Classic. But eventually I lost interest, got bored and now I can't seem to play it anymore considering how boring it is. I would totally play this again if something new comes out and not mounts being released every month for VIP lol.

We replace the death sounds with Zach Galifianakis screaming and crying from various movie scenes, so it'll encourage more people to tower and PK.

Sicx 04-03-2014 03:01 AM

nothing.

This is a very good question. You will be surprised, towering has more problems than any other activities on Graal. I would say towering and sparring is the major part of Graal and it's at failure at providing the best.

The problem for towering is, it sort of works like social hierarchy. All the major powers belongs to the leader. It's not fair, only the survival of the fittest survive.

All the other major flaws are similar to this. I have faced these problems exactly a year ago and I couldn't come up with a solution for this. That's the reason I quit helping towers, because I grew up in the individual society and I can't understand this.

Your starting to sound like a broken record. I do agree with ever thing you said tho. The incentive system stinks and needs an overhaul. I also agree the better part of towering is actually taking the tower vs afking or clicking through spam for hours inside a tower. I would kind of like to see more of a points system rather than the current afk inside the tower system. Get a point for taking a tower, get a point for keeping it for an hour straight. Take a second tower while you are currently holding a tower get 2 points instead of one for taking it.

Maybe they could make a GRP or Guild Reward Points stat that would keep track of points for each player. Those points would be gotten while being online by taking towers, holding towers, and completing other guild activities. Then those points would be spent like currency to buy stuff that you can only get with the guild reward points. Of course there would have to be a store made for this to go to buy the items. I know they had something similar to this before in game, but IMO this would remedy at least some of the towering problems by making it so the individual player is rewarded rather than a whole group of people. You would only get the points, and be able to enter the store while in a guild so it would still encourage players to be in guilds.

I also agree with the ally guilds. We have discussed this before at length in other threads. IMO the best solution is to reduce the number of ally guilds you can have to just one ally guild, and make it so you can only have 1 tag at a time. To help that they would have to go through and remove any inactive guilds with less than a certain minimal hour requirement. TO BE CLEAR I mean guilds with 100 or less tower hours on them. I am not in any way saying to remove dead guilds that have reached 1k. I think they should also raise the price of starting a guild. I realize it may be harder than I think to clean up the towering and guild mess with there being so many players with dozens of guild tags each, and some of them being old guilds that reached 1k or higher that they don't really use but want to keep and there would be to much of an uprising if they tried to remove them. Idk what to do about those.

As for Lag blocking I think if they simply moved things, made wider entrances,or more than one entrance to areas inside towers it would help lag blocking a lot.

There's a button for that....It's called the block button. I learned a long time ago from a friend that when there's to much random bs spam chat going on to just block it. Just because you block some one doesn't mean you can't un block them later. I cant count how many times I blocked ppl because they wouldn't shut up. Specially when an admin was hosting events.

I have to agree. I think they could come up with ways to remove, and share some of the powers the guild owner/leader has. One of the major things I don't like is that the Guild leader gets solo control over who gets the Hats and when they get the hat. If they used the point system I suggested above to help keep track and make requirements that have to be met to get the hat. It would take that responsability away from the guild leader. I don't get why co-leaders don't get the power to promote ppl or give powers to ppl. I do know from experience how ever you have to be careful of what powers you give to whom, because you never know who might decide to go rouge and kick everyone from the guild.

I mean, I answered the question asked in the thread.

Berry 04-04-2014 03:49 AM

What would the point of the guild leader be if they had to share powers?

Canis 04-04-2014 03:53 AM

I tried to block... but everyday is a new bunch of new players, and i'm supossed to block them all? At the end of the week i might have more than a half of classic players blocked. And stuff keeps happening while you spend your time telling who's spamming and who's leading xD
I know, it's a way to solve it, but if the question is 'What do you think can be done to improve towering?', i have to say what i said.

Maybe that the leader doesnt need to be on all the time, abd others cab recruit/kick for him?

I know ppl who have countless pages full of blocked players. I still think it would be nice if at least co-leads could give powers, otherwise the only other power that should be romoved from guild leaders is handing out the hats. Like I said in my last post the Reward system needs changed so leaders dont have the power to choose who and when the hats are given out. I also agree with Thallen that the reward tier system is waaayy over due over a change to encourage guilds to continue on instead of recycling.

The main problem with towering is the people. 2010-early2012 players want a challenge (basically). Late2012-now players want a quick reward. So figure out a way to satisfy both groups. A few ideas...
Allies
Remove allies. This removes subs and makes it to where there is only truly 25 people in a guild(gotta feeling there'll still be subs somehow but oh well) making a guild only have 25 member makes tower more of a challenge since some people aren't on at the same time.
Rewards
Give out rewards every month. Special rewards could be given out every season of a year and a grand prize given out every year. Monthly rewards can be gifted to top 3 guilds with the most hours. Special rewards given to the top 2. And grand rewards given to the top guild. Rewards only given to 25(read previous idea) members. This adds more competition between guilds.(you can keep 1k,5k,10k if you want but I don't see the point in this) Admins might have to change leaderboards for this though.
Reward ideas
Might need to make the rewards different to a couple ideas of mine were reopen some old shops for the winning guilds,(40k room, old nexus, etc.) items(polos, juggling things, etc.), you get the picture. Now you may start the hate on my ideas

1. Yes allies/Subs should be gone
2. No and this has been suggested and discussed before. Bad idea there are to many dominant guilds, and you would be most likely handing out "prizes" to the same guilds monthly or seasonally or what ever time frame you use. IMO while that might encourage more competition it just doesn't seem like it would necisarrily be fair to the entire towering community specially if you get rid of allies. And besides would you want to see SON getting a reward every 4 months??? HELL NO.
3.Yes rewards need changed. I still think its best to find away to reward ppl for the work they put in as part of a guild or group rather than rewarding a guild as a whole. That alone would get rid of hat chasing, and take the power of HAT decisions away from Guild leaders meaning less drama.

I mean to restrict a guild to only 25 members. Ways to do this is make a 1 month contract between leader and members. Leaders cannot kick member for 1 month and members cannot leave guild for 1 month. If guild has co leads, the contact can be extended for 3 months, 6 months, etc. of course a player can still have multiple tags.

Also how about re adding tower challenges? I remember when I was in nal pre 5k shadow I would check to see how much we had and if was more than 8 I would ask for a challenge. Most of the time shadow said no but the few times he said yes they were fun to me.

1 hat to give away at 2k instead of 1k and 2 separate hats at 5k?

I was trying to agree that it should be restricted down to the same 25 members, but contracts are bad. It wouldn't be good to lock ppl into only being able to be in one guild, and not be able to leave. It also wouldn't be good if the guild leads where unable to kick ppl who where inactive because they where under contract.

Challenges sound good. Not sure how that would work exactly tho.

I think if they made the reward tiers more even it would be at least a little bit better. Say every 2.5k you get a reward instead of 1k,5k and 10k.
