I'm also glad the black halo is gone. Never cared that it was selling for 100 gralats (was originally 5k when I bought it).

Yes keep reselling old items so new players can buy them and claim they bought the hats when they were first released. I love that.

People complain how they want #Graal2009 back, but then complain when admins attempt to do that by reselling old hats to bring back that feel.

It's stupidity and completely ruins the rarity of an item. When you saw somebody with that hat, you knew they were an old player. Now people with 50 hours will have it. Whelp, how about we resell every hat while we're at it? No point in rarity, right?

Bringing back old hats doesn't give anybody a nostalgic feel, it irritates people that the rarity of their item got completely screwed over. That's like if event hats started getting sold.

You should know who old players are regardless of a hat or not, obviously if someone has 50 hours they weren't an old player.

Although I don't agree with the approach Fire Surge is showing I do agree with the message, Classic needs to be more creative and make new items.

For the record, older players also sometimes miss out on certain things too. It's not just the newer players. For example, I saw someone with 5000+ hours wearing the horns.

I don't think it's a big deal if they occasionally re-sell a couple old hats that were originally sold in a hat shop for a long period of time. These hats are more "old" than they are "rare". If they were to re-sell hats that were sold exclusively at revolution or nexus a long time ago, or old hats that were really expensive, that would be a different story.

Just because someone with a lot of hours is wearing the horns doesn't mean they just bought it today. For example, a friend in my guild just happened to put on the horns (he purchased them when they were first sold) today and he didn't even know they were being resold. However, there are some old players that purchased the hats today.

go figure, I open this thread and see some of the same people who call successful towerers "hat chasers" and pride themselves in not caring about hats complaining about a hat being resold because they no longer feel as if it gives them some superior status within the community because they had it first

For the record, re-selling hats (and other items) isn't new. In fact, they used to do it a lot more in the past.

I recall an old rev/nexus where they sold all the solid colour octo hats for 100 gralats each (I don't remember if they also had the animated ones). They sold jiggle and snowstorm on more than one occasion. They re-sold my precious skeletal horse once, as well as the blue ghost horse (in the token shop). Like I said earlier in the thread, the Black Halo was originally 5000 gralats. There's plenty more examples. They've actually gotten better at preserving old items and understanding the rarity factor.

Thankfully we have a peacemaker in this thread :D

I bought the red and blue xor mask for about 10k at one of the clubs. When they were in the shop they sold for 45k and 40k I believe.:)

The answers for selling old hats? Lazy GFXs. I created a status on Graal about that, and everybody PMed me this.

Apparently it's because newbies wanted those hats in the game. I see there are 2 NEW hats, but other than that, older players don't really have anything to buy. Graal needs to stop re-selling stuff just because someone wanted a hat. Unless they have a proper excuse like "Oh, we're working on something big so we did not have the time to make new hats" I could understand, but seeing Classic seldom has big updates, I doubt it. In a way I guess it's good because players like me never had the chance to buy the "old halo" because I was investing my gralats into my codeshop when I first started. What will they bring back next? Token shop items for 1k gralats in Nexus?

They should have at least changed the halo a bit so that you could tell the difference between the old and new one. Lets just hope something nice is coming to classic, and also hope they don't go sell the skeleton morph.

Yes, the reason old hats were sold is purely because the graphics team were too lazy to make new ones, that must be the reason

I believe the reason most people don't like new hats is because they don't fit Classic's style. The GFX feels a bit mismatched and it doesn't belong. Angel Clan has hats that suit Classic's GFX style. The hats look like they were actually made for this game. I don't know what game the new hats were made for, but last time I checked there isn't a need for space helmets on a game that doesn't involve space! :P

On reselling old hats, I don't agree on it really. I'd rather see new things be made if possible. New ideas from new people. If I were on the GFX team, I'd personally feel offended that they'd sell old hats. I'd feel more offended if someone thought it was because I'm too lazy to make new ones, because would you not want your art displayed and ready available for everyone to enjoy? Would you not want to keep pushing forward and challenging the creative boundaries? Of course not. It's a privilege to have your art sold. It means you're on the right track in some way, dammit! Not everyone will see it, expect that, but the only way to go is up if you want to improve. But again, who am I to say what is already known? We have talented artists. And as long as they follow in kaizen, I'm absolutely certain it will be okay.

Well, it's not like I can't see where old players that care are coming from. They played during the time when the hat was originally sold and they want to have the bragging rights of having that hat as opposed to the newer players not having it.

Of course it all comes down to:

a) How much you actually give a f*** about pixels, which varies person to person, which is all opinion, and to each his/her own.
b) How old or new a player you are.
c) How good or bad the hat looks, opinion again, however I think some of the newer hats are a tab bit on the garbage side.

Well considering classic is based entirely off of customization and looks, I do see why that playerbase cares-

Maybe, just maybe I wasn't crazy. And there was some kind of bug (around the time the hats got re-arranged) that caused certain hats to disappear from some people's inventory. It's pretty coincidental that this particular hat is being resold suddenly.
