Graaloween Overview

Hey all! So this year's graaloween was a lot different than what we are used to. I'm making this thread to see what your thoughts are about it. Take all things into consideration; the pumpkin blob, Club Crypt, candy bowls, prize bags, Onnet General Store, etc. What did you like? What would you like changed? What new ideas would you like to see implemented next year? Let's discuss

MisaChan 11-04-2014 08:36 AM

Its ugly, I want the ghosts >:(

4-Lom 11-04-2014 08:55 AM

First off, thanks for opening the dialogue!

1.) The pumpkin blob - I thought this was a hoax until yesterday! Well implemented, nice appearance, and somewhat unexpected! Would be good to see this fellow return in some other formats later on. (3/5)

2.) Club Crypt - the best part was, imo, the repeat items. I bought four fairies for lack of anything else at the start. They were QUITE expensive, so I hope they will never ever be seen for sale again (maybe xmas presents would be alright?). I didn't like any of the hats, but that's personal taste. The morph was small, but cute and unique. I liked the redecoration of the crypt - last year it did feel a bit musty. (4/5)

3.) Candy bowls - I really enjoyed the concept of having people come to houses for candy. Too bad we only got one bowl free! I feel that if the same event occurs next year, there will be a whole lot of "Candy for candy" going on (much like xmas presents) due to the nature of the prize handouts. PLEASE fix up the candy bowls so that there is a set refund price instead of this "You can't remove a used candy bowl from your house" thing. I have kept a candy bowl with a single piece left in it that I would like as a souvenir!
(3/5)

4.) Prize bags - Little bit of a snafu here. Handled nicely with a refund which eased the frustration of many players. I saw some interesting items, but was sort of disappointed with the artwork on some of them. In particular, the 'ghost' pet looks a little on the cartoony side, and the interior of the coffin bed does not really match the lid. The spider looks good, though, as does the mount I saw (whatever it is)! (2/5)

5.) Onnet General Store - I liked the artwork on the items here, but the colors were kind of bright for halloween. I enjoyed seeing the ghost make an appearance (missed it last time!) and had a good chuckle about the horse as it was the opposite of the ghostly skeleton horse from ages past. I got excited when I saw the vip only room, thinking that it would contain a horde of special items, but was kind of disappointed that it had only a repeat morph (even though its cute). (2/5)

Overall - 14/25.

It was good to see some change in what we were expecting.
It was nice to have a long, drawn out anticipation of the final event.
It was really good to see so much activity, some centered around houses!
It was nice to have some variety in items.

The artwork next year could use some work.
The candy bowl system could be touched up.
The NPCS that were dressed to impress were kind of a let down.
The collection/giving system could include more incentive to give out candy next time around.

ryan6 11-04-2014 10:06 AM

I honestly liked the older system better where candy would be done with the npcs… Anyways club crypt was pretty decent (nothing really to complain about..), pumpkins alright, general store alright as well. The candy system I enjoyed because it was quick and simple, but the thing that really annoyed me was the reward system. The bags became expensive instead of what I thought it was gonna be. I thought it should of been costing 20-30 pieces of candy of some random trick or treat in a grab bag rather than paying for a certain item. That's the reward system I enjoy because we get more stuff. I get less and less stuff each year on Halloween because of the changes they make for it. The pumpkin blob was also a brilliant idea.

Thallen 11-04-2014 10:37 AM

don't care at all about prizes or items, only care about the quality, competition, and enjoyment of the event
found this year's to be very boring, felt like a glorified code shop/maze exhibit on one side and then a spamfest/popularity contest on the other

the event was also dragged out far too long - if I remember correctly, last year's (which was better) only lasted 2-3 days

Sardon 11-04-2014 01:58 PM

True it was too long
Onnet was pretty cool and the crypt was very good

The candy system was boring though so I only got 600 candies or so rewarded with wierd items ill never use

their was also alot of unoriginal content such as the doggy bag bomb which had the same explosion effect as the choco bomb earlier this years nexus

make a new quest

like 2011

Sicx 11-04-2014 02:41 PM

everything was repetitive and when I could get approx. 1 hat every 15 minutes last year, I could only get 1 hat for having a life. Like seriously, not only did I waste around 6 hours of doing nothing but collecting candy and doing mazes, having around 600 candies seemed a really lot to me but instead no, each hat costs 325 CANDIES. I honestly in all opinion hated this Halloween. Sure it's good to try new things out, but I honestly do not want to see this next Halloween at all.

Club crypt was nice, the event was meh. The prizes for the event are a little disappointing. I like the furniture prizes but I feel like there was a little too much of it. There is a ghost pet which I don't feel is necessary considering there is already a ghost pet being sold in onnet. Hats are...ok? I got a really ugly one and a pretty good one so idk. If I can get the bobbing for apples furniture, however, I will give this Halloween a 100/10.

There was like 2 items I actually liked and truly wanted, and I got one of them. Didn't want to risk getting a hat I hated like others did... Didn't like the mount at all tbh. Artwork wasn't bad at all on most items Imo. Would have loved that divers hat.

Hats were ok. I bought one of them, there's another one I liked but it didn't fit my head how I would have liked so oh well. Didn't care for the flesh horse thing, but loved the vip horse. Didn't like the colors of furniture at all, otherwise would have probably them. (Had a total of 17-20k saved for Halloween.)

Yeah, candy collecting was more boring, but I was fine with that, I still like the concept. The prize bag prices were ridiculous; even the adjusted half prices are really high...

I had 1000 candy; ~100 candy/hour (dunno if thats even close to accurate); spend ~10 collecting candy; and only got 2 hats i wont wear, a ghost pet that walks instead of flies (?), and pogo.

Pumpkin blob wasnt done well. 50ish candies divided by the surrounding crowd where you cant walk; you'd be lucky to even get one. The candy shouldnt have been dropped on the ground.

I personally thought Crypt was well done despite other people's thoughts.

I saw a lot of people who wouldnt give candy because the bowls cost too much. Idk, because on the other hand there were the people who bought 50 bowls, some were able to get rid of them, and other people (*cough* Lia) bought a lot of bowls and only got rid of half.

Thanks. I added those, in addition to some other hats that I've seen so far.

Graal o ween was horrible.

David M. 11-05-2014 06:41 AM

I think halloween was fine. The items inside the goodie bags looked fine aswell. even though many people complain about the price for the good bags, i think the price was alright. I think the problem is that people were expecting prizes like last year 5candy for a chance to get any item or a trick. Now they see 325candy for one hat.
Overall, good job on this halloween.

Howl 11-05-2014 07:37 AM

Giving was probably the way to go in my opinion. The top person had 15,000, I mean, you could just stay AFK for the entire event with 150 bowls and just hope that people enter, you would automatically get 5k candies without even having to lift a finger. I guess you can really only do this though if you have like a ton of gralats you have to waste.

OT: I would save for Black Friday and hopefully Thanksgiving, even though I do not celebrate it. I reckon they will have stock for Thanksgiving because they seemed to have a hat for Bastille Day, which I knew nothing about, but since I know something about Turkey Day, I assume there will be some nice things.

I am saving for Black Friday currently, I really want a nice 2P mount and some other hats/morphs...

Aaron 11-05-2014 07:58 AM

Everything was pretty bad.

Little competition equates to little fun for myself.
Still proud that I denied going through anyone's maze to grab a piece of candy.

F*** you if you did that. :)

And I'm sure a lot more of us would have done this, had we known beforehand that givers would get 1/3 back. :)

This would also have also encouraged more people to give candy. Everyone was under the impression, though, that there were no prizes for giving candy (except for the top 6, who would get trophies). Had they made it clear that giving candy would also yield a reward for everyone else, then things might have gone differently. I know I'd have a lot more candy to spend. I think this would have solved a lot of problems and increase the candy output significantly.

This is really the only thing that I'm unhappy about. I think it was a pretty big mistake on their part (not making it clear beforehand).

LwMark 11-05-2014 05:45 PM

Narc there is also a red and pink trimmed hat like the ones we got, also anyone post picture of divers hat

Lemme say the crypt and onnet were done well
ive noticed shops getting interesting such as japanese themed nexus had its own secrets onnet finaly having a vip room and crypt as well
The shops were great keep that up!
now for negative comments

The candy system was extremely boring I had no motive to enter houses for hours and hours

also the prizes suck
if you could possibly get rid of the bobbing for apples and give something thats good

coffins are cool
but can you find me someone who wants a coffin full of water and apples for no reason and does nothing at all

Not exactly true. Maeby and CoM people played a smart game. They all placed several statues of their friends in their houses (so people can double-tap to view profile > enter house for another quick candy), and had those friends do the same, creating a web of houses, all getting traffic from each other. That and you spread out in all the crowded areas advertising that your house is open with candy.

Narcosis 11-07-2014 04:24 AM

It won't let me edit my post containing the list of stuff in the bags (had this happen before with certain posts, some kind of forum bug). Anyway, if anyone wants to see pics of every hat in the 325 candy bag, visit Noxious' house in-game.

No, I believe that was sincere. I'm guessing it's not something that was thought of when they implemented this system. I mean, statues opening profiles was only just recently added.

And yeah, plenty of people did it. But there was a specific group of people who linked all their houses together with several statues in each house. It was very smart (and awesome for us collectors, who could grab like 7 candies in 40 seconds).
