Windows vs mac
What's better and why
|
PC because price. If you really want OSX you can put it on PC.
|
Mac for it's pleasurable interface.
|
Windows is vastly superior to everything. It's dominated the computer market for like two decades.

Windows trumps mac any day. If you want a free operating system, I'd also suggest getting Ubuntu.

Well you see the amount of problems mac faces are just enough to show that windows dominate it. You can't even play PC graal on it without missing a few things that are needed in PC graal
|
If you want a free OS, just get the Windows 10 technical preview. You just need a (free) Microsoft account, and it is stable (I've been using it for the past couple months).

A linux distribution isn't intended to be used by the average ****** consumer. |
That's what Ubuntu was made for though

Personally, I would still stick to another OS as a regular consumer. |
Windows or Mac? What about Windows on your Mac?

I prefer Mac because I don't care enough about why Windows is better to switch. Most of the things that make Windows superior don't significantly effect me.
I'm obviously not very educated on the specs for either, but I'd think it'd depend on what you plan to do with your computer that'd decide whether Windows or Mac is superior. As someone who uses their computer for browsing the internet, music, and 2 games on Steam it is an absolute waste of time or money to me to look through different Windows computers, questioning which fits my needs when I can actually spend less money on an Apple product. |
WindowsXP for me please!
I prefer windows. More user friendly imo and a lot smoother then mac also imo. XP was the best version, and 7, that one was also nice. I can't stand windows 8+. Not user friendly at all and impossible to understand unless you mess around with it foeverrrrrrrrrrr. |

My 1700$ MacBook Air laptop that isn't equipped with a graphics card outperformed my friend's Alienware which is equipped with a graphics card. Both of the computers were tested out of the box. End. Therefore, your post is mediocre itself. :) |

The comparison here is laptop without a graphics card with a desktop computer equipped by a graphics card... To prevent further crying, the MacBook Air has an Intel i7 clocked @ 3.3Ghz and the Alienware an i7 too clocked at 4.2Ghz. For the graphics card, I have no clue and don't care much. If this post doesn't please you then it isn't any of your concerns. Pass on with life. :P |

To me, OS X is more reliable, smoother, easier and more visually appealing to use, and a lot less annoying. I have both OS X (Yosemite) and Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro. I really only switch over to the Windows partition to use applications that dont have a mac version.

I'm a bit peeved at my Windows right now.
When it asks you to update your computer on Windows 8/10, it doesn't pop up in a tiny out-of-focus GUI in the corner. Rather, it now dominates the entire screen and immediately steals the focus on it. It gives you two options, one of "yes" or something similar and the other of "no". It automatically has the "yes" button selected to start, so all you need to do is press enter or any other key (yes, any other key) to get it to start. And as it so happens, I was writing a paper when it popped up. There's literally no reaction time, so the keys I was hitting to type my paper immediately triggered the "yes" button. Then it closed all my programs and shut down before proceeding to "update" for 3 hours. And to make matters worse, it didn't save the document I was writing and it didn't recover it when my computer finally did start up again. It's almost cause for switching to OS X. I mean yeah, that comes with its own host of issues, but at least it should guarantee that my computer won't shut down and become unusable for several hours without warning at a time I need to be able to use it. |

Dedicated GPUs and integrated graphics on a CPU are very different... especially performance-wise. Normally you may find more power in a dedicated GPU, yet laptops are consistent of APUs which behold different performance levels and different concepts. Regardless, Alienware is trash for the money. |

How I feel about Windows updates:

I'd say Mac. I just bought myself a Macbook Pro 15". I was on Windows and it's not the same world for me. It's way faster and smoother, especially for big projects where windows was slower than my new laptop. But for softwares that only works on Windows, you can always dual boot or download and use a virtual machine.
Concerning Graal, I can play on the client without problems. The RC was made for Mac OS X and I'm leveling with Gonstruct. Everything work perfectly on Mac. |

Recently, I feel like windows has a similar feel to the Mac OS. Ever since Windows 7, I haven't felt a big difference in using either OS for everyday use. I'd always choose windows just for the price/performance ratio, though. Actually being able to play games is nice too. |
Problem is Windows 8 costs $199.99 and OS X Yosemite costs nothing. Hackintosh?

I'm not a total computer 101 nerd with all the facts about the internals and externals but I can say windows 7 is ruler of all. It's simple, easy to use, straight forward stuff. You have everything you need on windows 7. You can use it without the "hassle" of using a computer emulator thing to get downloads from windows to mac. Another thing it's compatable with everrything! Mac is so useless when it comes to downloading games and stuff. It all seems limited and bleh.
