on that site some guy posted a review by some channel
Caled graal review They gave a 3/10 they were playn un they were a bunch of immature low lives who were critisising everything even the way the character walks -___- |
Now it's almost at 2000+ upvotes, post was gilded, top of /r/gaming, and we are on the front page of Reddit.
|
It would have been nice to see this forum community mentioned in the post.
Or some coordination with the servers to have a sort of "welcome, players new and old" thing going. I remember desperately wanting, at some point 5 years ago, this level of attention; we were at a point where we could handle the influx if only people knew. At the moment, I fear most people will read this, download Graal, get confused or disheartened and immediately move on. Still kind of cool! |
Gratz on front page. I wtf'd when I loaded reddit and saw graal. :I
|
:0!

what the **** have you guys done

Well...
|
Started off with only around 25 upvotes from people in the server. We were celebrating when it went up to 50 and 100, but now it is at 3,000... I hope to see many new players on PC Graal in the future.
|
I logged in just to say holy ****ing ****, what has happened...
|
Nice to see that people still want the good old graal to be revived. :)
|
what the ****
|
Daily morning check of reddit and I find that thread on the front page lol, wtf
|
That's curious.
|
"CTO of the company that owns Desura here. We sorta love helping indie games. If there's anything we can do to help (servers, tech, labor, whatever), let me know."
|
Well don't just sit there, someone needs to tell Unixmad that Desura is wanting to partner up!

I'm actually scared for Graal right now, first mlg then this. These players are getting really ****ing annoying doing this.
|
Ew reddit. isn't that the place where everyone jerks off a popular opinion and posts stolen jokes?
|
****ing idiot players don't know what they're doing.
|
As cool as it was to see it get to the front page. The actual effect on the playercount on PC seems quite abysmal so far. I did see about 10-12 people in the tutorial on Zodiac last night when it was right on the front page but I don't think that many players are actually going to continue playing.
Getting the game on Steam would probably be the biggest way to boost playercount but a lot of work would need to be done on the PC servers to make them more accessible to new players, along with making 'iGraal' (listed under an Official tab) accessible from the PC client so the game doesn't feel as dead. |

Okie dokie then.
|
Welp, whatever happens from here, I just hopes things turn out for the better.

First thing I did when seeing it on the frontpage was check the playercount, and yeah:
http://puu.sh/gnNGa/3abbff2f81.png I've used Reddit numerous times to get exposure to several services, websites, etc., and the effect has always been the same: it's a good day of feel-good attention, and then almost nothing more. Nonetheless, what this does further prove is how careless management really is. There are dozens of opportunities in those comments, and not a single one will be looked into. The community has done everything imaginable for this game in the past 17 years, but the management is just pathetic. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, but this is definitely proof of it. Players and developers are constantly picking up the slack that Unixmad has left for us, and there's never anything to show for it. I wouldn't call this a revival, but I would say GJ to whoever made the post. We shouldn't have to be doing this type of thing. If they had any grasp of their business, they'd be waking up every day and doing things like this, starting small-scale advertising campaigns, and looking into other ways on how they can grow their most popular game. I'd like to see what a day at their office actually consists of. |
i found that on the front page. What the actual ****.

Graal "was" good.
By the way, found this. The only comment from a Graalian I know http://i.gyazo.com/601d8568e51e715671b3eb7c2daeb030.png |

fp4 has the name fp4 on reddit
nice |
Yeah Era was bustling today.
It's pretty rare to see so many players on a weekday. I helped out a couple of noobs but I really think the customization system needs a overhaul. |
gg.
Maybe we'll get new scripters aside from the current 3 active ones. |
The post has already died down so has the hype towards it, also @Darknight - even if it interested people the chance of someone enjoying it enough too completely master Gs2/3 is very slim and even if they did they most likely still would not get hired for a while.
Would be neat if Unixmad stepped up and replied to them though, a server upgrade would be a huge boost but Thallen pretty much summed up why that won't happen. |
Here's what happened.
Players went to try out the server, looking good at this point. Players finish the tutorial, still running smoothly, get to the actual players... Well you know the rest. "Scrub" "Noob" "Ez" |
Rofl that's basically the case in Era.
All the "pro" players just boost their stats off completely clueless noobs. |
I laughed at this thread on reddit
Everyone crying about graal dying, but the iOS servers are still thriving? nobody mentioned that |
When they say Graal they mean PC Graal.
Because PC Graal is actually dying/dead. |

I dont beleive its the right time to strike Once summer break begins try to comvince unix to Advertise graal (as a whole not pc specificaly) Then we can spam popular youtubers to review graal Post on popular sites about it and We will looking at all servers having a minimum of 5k |

Clearly advertising is a no for unix cause he dont get the concept of spend money to gain money. Instead he is cheap and relies heavy on word of mouth, and everyone is to embarrassed to say they play graal because no one knows hoe the **** its pronounced.
|
I wouldn't mind seeing more players on PC Graal, but I'm biased, spent a good portion of my teenage years there.
Quote:
I vaguely remember something about a lawsuit with Nintendo which prevented them from advertising officially. But maybe I'm drunk. |
