Best FREE Anti-Virus Program?
Fortunately I got a new laptop today and I'm super excited. With that being said I want to keep this laptop "healthy" and clean. So, what is the best FREE Anti-Virus Program out there?
Honestly looking for one that provides the best overall care. Meaning it offers security, cleaning, and all that good stuff. It'd be very appreciated if you gave your opinions! Thank you <3 |

Looks good to me, thank you!

Avast is probably the best Anti-virus program you could get right now
|
Avast is crup, Get Anti-Malware bytes, Removes some trojans that may affect your computer and steal information, Avast did not detect those problems in my computer and I had to download ****loads of programs just to remove a single virus.
and Advance System Care might be also good, include Anti Malware Bytes, They work like a team removing virus and problems that makes ur compooter slow. |

- Anti Malware doesn't give you protection through the internet, ie blocking a malicious site - Anti Malware doesn't have a quick scan - Anti Malware bytes doesn't have real time updating and must update it manually Anti-Malware bytes can work along side Avast though (advance system care is crap) |
Advanced SystemCare

No ASC is not crap. It's one of my favorite anti-virus systems and always keep my PC up to speed. Lots of options and the scans are quick and easy. Their is a pro option, but you can get it for free. *winks*

ASC is vomit

What about you dont download any anti virus or unknown programs?
Anti-Malware is the only thing a Windows OS need. |
Mac OS X.

Honestly windows defender and the best anti-virus of all....COMMON SENSE.
Watch what you download and click on. But seriously, download Malware Bytes, run that every time you download something or you're unsure of a site you've visited/something you clicked on. Its also good to do regular scans regardless. Remember Malware Bytes (free) is not an active "shield" or firewall, you have to manually open the program and press the scan button, I think you schedule scans though. MalBytes and being smart has kept my laptops virus/crapware free for years. PS: Avast is garbage and Advanced System Care spams you with ads and bloatware. |

Another Suggestion is: Norton Anti Virus :P |

I liked ASC, I had it on my other laptop, though it caused issues with Graal when I ran defrag options. I just went with Avira that MattKan suggested, so far I like it.

Malwarebytes free is a little lackluster but I have really liked malwarebytes premium. It's also very easy to find lifetime premium codes on certain places on the internet.

I use 360 Total Security, not really sure what is so special about it but it gets the job done. Its also rated pretty nicely, check it out here: http://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/ |
I use ASC and it doesn't ruin graal?
|
Please dont use avast. Panda is your best bet, its a great free tool and a lot of tech support companies use the tools it provides. (Works in tech support) To be honest the best anti virus protection is yourself, I use no anti virus and have never had an infection because I pay attention when I download things. 100% of malware is preventable from the users themselves.
|
The best anti-virus is yourself, don't download stupid ****, you'll be alright.

I honestly wouldn't trust any of these free bits and pieces that you've never heard of before. In my experience, they nearly always fail to do their job properly.
I reccomment Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). It's bundled into Windows 8/8.1, so you don't need to install it if you're on anything above Windows 7. If you're on Windows 7 or below, you can download it here. It's free, lightweight and does its job very well. I also recommend running a MalwareBytes scan once a month, which can also be downloaded for free. It'll pick up anything that MSE misses as no anti-virus software out there is 100% perfect. If you're hell-bent on spending money on anti-virus, your best bet is AVG. (Also works in IT if that adds any kind of 'stamp of approval') |
Avast anti-virus with a Red-Dragon serial key.FTW
i have like 6 more years till my key expires. |
