Country spar tournament
 

I'd like to see a world spar tournament put together, if you aren't familier with what they do in sports they take the best athletes from the US and other countries and make a team of the best US players vs the best players from Mexico and so on. We could take the best US spares and so on with other countries and put together a tournament. Thoughts?

I think it would be a pretty cool event as a community as long as nobody was super toxic about it. I know there are players who just don't like foreign sparrers for some reason but I think it'd be fun. It would be like Smash Bros. crew battles, they always like to do a USA vs. the World at internationals, just an example though. We could split it into different countries. I doubt it'd be staff run, but if people were to organize it would be cool.

Would be a cool idea. You would need to find said best players of each country to respresent their nation, and enough countries to participate. Would most likely be player-hosted, since it could have race issues. Oh, and also you would need people to translate for each countries team.

Possibility of USA vs. World in a large 30 vs. 30 crew battle kind of thing.

I'm still holding my breath that one day there will be a cross-server competition in iGraal. That would be fun to watch.

Rather than finding the best players .. find the best spar guild.. haha..

North America vs. rest of the world sounds more balanced

Lol this would be like FIBA, where USA currently has most medals and not to mention they have more professional, well-known players who will always dominate the tournament since its technically their main sport. Graal wise, most good sparrers are from USA and people around the world coming to the tournament would have to transition to play from the delay/lag they have into a very stable, low ping connection since this tournament definitely has to be held in USA where the server is located. Otherwise cool idea but Graal just needs to get more big to somehow make this 'dream' happen.

We're talking about online still, just player organized.

No travel, we'd just sort 2 large teams, one with USA/NA players and the other with players from the rest of the world.

So technically not an Olympics format. Then anyone who has time can form this Country tournament, but it just wont as fun as people expect it to be if its going to be USA vs the rest of the world. Either the US players will prevail the delayers or the rest of the world's delay will overpower the US players. Its just going to be too controversial like GST

I think if people just take it as a lighthearted event it could be pretty fun. As long as nobody gets torn up over what happens at it at least.

Can there be more than 1 team from a country?

EU = Eko, MK, Crono, some other good people, but I don't think it'd compare to NA having people like Brett, Dante, Ares, Prime, Jack, David, Kevin, Comyt, myself, etc.

we could give World Dante/Blaze and some of the Mexican players by making it USA vs. World to balance it perhaps.

The problem still remains that we'd have to get all these people on at one time

If I were to organize this, I need some opinions on the setup.

USA vs. World (All US players and all foreign players would have to decide the strongest people to participate amongst themselves and submit a team sometime prior)

30 vs. 30 (or less depending on how many people can be on at once)

Format: 1 vs. 1, survivor of the match faces the next person in line for the other team with the hp they had at the end of the previous match.

For example, lets say Player 1 and Player 3 are on the USA team, and Player 2 and Player 4 are on the foreign team.

Player 1 defeats Player 2 with 1.5 hp remaining at the end of the first match. Player 1 would then rejoin and face player 4 starting at 1.5 hp. Let's say Player 4 chokes a bit and only wins with .5 hp left. Then Player 4 would join the next spar and face Player 3 while only having .5 to start. This process would continue until one team is eliminated.

The biggest problem is getting everyone on at one time I think.

I'd prefer to see North America+South America+Europe+The middle east+Asia+Australia.

I mean NA has a pretty solid team as someone pointed out earlier. South America has some good players like Haze and KicKo. Europe has Sarah, Eko, MK, Jack Sparrow, Shadz, Deus, ME!, Albie, Ezio, Shaheen and Droid.
Middle East is basically like Abood and the squad.


Maybe make the best sparrer in the selected region captain of the team e.g. Sarah captain of Europe, Thallen, Dante or Brett captain of North America and so on. It'd be bragging rights for the region that wins :)

I just feel like if you split it up like that then North America won't have any problems. Let's just say you take the top 5 or something from each of those. Thallen/Brett/Ares/Dante/? vs. whoever is pretty grim for whoever goes against it.

I feel like if this were to be done then it almost has to be USA vs. World on a large scale, as roster depth would be where the World team gets more advantage.

Edit: I like team captain ideas though. Could be (just an example) Thallen captain of Team USA and Sarah captain of Team World. Maybe 2 guilds could be made as well and that would be how to view the teams, though someone else would have to hold the guilds for the captains as they obviously have their own.

We could have it done at belle or something and since it's summer holidays i'm sure lots of people will be available. It's just like setting out the rules and stuff. But I think the problem with Team USA vs Team World is that it'd narrow down the teams. I'd prefer a tournament style thing with each of the countries much like the FIFA World Cup.

I feel like the only way to balance it is to keep it USA vs. World though. I just don't see most countries getting enough people to make a large tournament, and I feel like the US just wouldn't have any issues then. Earlier I detailed a system of how a large scale event with 2 teams could work.

We could have a entry of usa players compete to be on the team because of the best of the best and find the best players and vs them with other world players to be best of the best on world team
