Return our flags!

It feels like a HUGE violation of my privacy To have a flag automatically chosen for me.
Myself and other use flags of our choice to represent our race. I have no desire to be lumped in with a bunch of other people who have no relation to me.

If we can't at least have what shouldn't have been removed in the first place, then we should have the opinion for no flag at all.

Albie 11-04-2015 08:31 PM

I need this. I usually use a random flag as an excuse for my stupidity and bad English :(

Fulgore 11-04-2015 08:42 PM

The loaded poll question wording isn't discouraging those with common sense. Nice.

Admiral 11-04-2015 08:43 PM

would you say this makes you feel disgruntled?

Arsenal 11-04-2015 08:43 PM

But thing is... the flag is supposed to be used to indicate where you are, not what race or background you are.

Eugeen 11-04-2015 08:46 PM

I need a pirate flag tbh

I disagree. I'm sort of an extremist on this matter but I believe there should be much more accountability on the Internet. Want to contribute to a discussion? Then your name, age, occupation and level of education should be made available.

I can easily see this reducing the amount of cyberbullying, sexual harassment and plain idiocy. Those who continue doing so would face public scrutiny. It can bring civility to the Internet. But hey, I can only dream.

Well, you better not play any games online then because Nintendo, Microsoft and a lot of mobile games like Clash of Clans enable it!

You shouldn't approach the internet as though it's some safe-haven for all your information. If you're going to use the internet, you need to realize that your information is always being collected, distributed and sold. Despite the one post above, Graal doesn't need any special permissions to determine your location. It's based on IP, which every single website you ever load has access to.

Graal simply narrows it down to a location as vague as an entire country, which isn't that bad. It's fairly easy to just input your IP into a website and it'll narrow it down to the city you live in.

Myself and many others I've spoken to in game would much prefer to choose their own flag.
I want to be represented by where my family is from, not some country a game chose for me.

Admiral 11-04-2015 09:34 PM

Then put your flag on your body? The flags aren't there to represent, they're there to inform.

You claim that you want to "represent" where your family is from, why don't you just put it as a shield or on your body. The flags on your profile is there and was always there to show the location of the player

People don't look at your flag and think "this is where they originated from" they think "this is where they live" which is the whole purpose of the flag system.

As Admiral said, you can easily write this information in your status. If you don't care enough to put it there then it most likely isn't as big of a deal as you are making it out to be.

Type your country on Taylor. Its common sense. If you argue that your country isn't there as a shield, then thats your fault for not wanting to make one yourself and pay for it.

If really wanted to represent your family it wouldn't be such a big deal. Stop trying to change something just to benefit yourself in showing off with your countries flag. NO ONE CARES where you're from

I find it hilarious that someone actually thought they should waste their time on this update. Granted, this privacy excuse is BS, but the excuse that the flag is meant to inform is also BS. Neither this game, nor anyone in it cares what country you are in at the current moment. The flag actually is/was meant to represent the player, not their location. I understand other games use this current location aspect as a way of simply showing you where in the world people are playing, but we all know that this isn't the case on Graal. I can't believe this is even a discussion considering this is a giant joke. As a note: I don't care that much about this to the point where someone sensitive will be offended by my statement and go on some rant to provoke a response. Honestly, the flag was just a way of expeessing yourself, and is pretty stupid in a game like this to use the location feature to show where players are playing from.

state what? I never said anything was stated on the game. It was my truthful opinion. I realize some people need everything written out to understand something, but I'm sensible enough to understand a concept without it being clearly stated. This is the case of the flag being used as expression.

There should have been an in game poll for players to decide whether they felt this way. Because realistically the feature was entirely unnecessary.

You could say that about any change that has been met with disagreement. I don't see the need to make a poll about a decision that has already been made. It won't be an issue in a week.

Realistically being able to change your flag is completely unnecessary though. As it's being said it's for informing people what country you live in, not anything else and there's no real issue with privacy as it's only your country. From what I've seen there's way more reasons for having the flag set automatically.

Incorrect - where they currently are. If it was to be used to identify where they are from, the players could choose their flag. I never said anyone had to agree with me, nor did I say everyone else has the same opinion as me. I obviously understood that you and some others think this way is the best way, like I said, I don't need it clearly stated. I just have my opinion because I have a fairly strong sense of nationalism. I understand that some people might have that sense too, and move to another country, but would still identify as their country of origin, hence my opinion.

I can't see how this benefits anyone outside of the spar community
