How many arms/legs do dogs have

ur opinion. don't give me some scientific chart. cause they walk on all fours. but they can stand on their hind legs. which can either be interpreted as they have front/hind legs or that they can stand. like humans?!

http://assets3.thrillist.com/v1/imag...dn-t-be-dumber ?!?!?!

twilit 01-19-2016 04:04 AM

right.
because the dog needs a shirt too.
left would only make sense if it were actually a full-body suit that covered the back.

Dogs have four Limbs..

freakytree 01-19-2016 04:15 AM

yes but how would you in your insanely creative mind classify those four limbs

Appendages.

5hift 01-19-2016 04:28 AM

Limbs and appendages pretty much mean the same thing.

I believe dogs and other quadrupedal animals don't have arms but all rather legs since they all serve the same purpose and that is to move.

Unlike us bipedal organisms, our legs do the walking and our arms do arm-related stuff.

I've seen serveral costumes that require the first setup.

But either way, a dog doesn't have actual hands or usable fingers so it's pretty irrelevant to consider the front set of legs "arms".

Areo 01-19-2016 04:37 AM

Idk 5hift, dogs back legs and humans legs are fairly similar. They both are very powerful pushing muscles, and don't really go any other direction besides forward with any real strength.(you can lean yourself against the wall and push that way, but that's more pushing up as opposed to backwards.) and dogs front legs are more human arm like, with more control and less power. Like how if you're playing with a dog and he will paw at your hands with his paws, being fairly accurate.(some dogs)

Im calling it, right side of the picture all the way.

dogs standing on their hind legs look ridiculous though just kinda hopping around all ******ed. but they also would definitely wear pants on only the hind legs which is conflicting.

GOAT 01-19-2016 10:11 PM

The way I see it, if they had arms they wouldn't spend half the day licking their own private area.

How so?

Take a look at this skeleton, see how the shoulder bones are pushed forward? That's because dogs use their front legs for movement and not much else.

Yeah, I guess the way the bones are inverted is similar to that of a human's but that applies for most animals except for horses and stuff.

If humans had a the same structure in our shoulders we'd be kangaroos.

Skt A. Sangue 01-20-2016 12:31 AM

Dang it I was about to be a smart butt and re explain why dogs are two legged animals... But you didn't ask for legs... You asked for arms and legs...

Well yea...
Dogs technically only have two legs-

And they're the back ones... So it would be half of the dog, rear end.

JK IT'S ACTUALLY THE TWO LEGS ON THE RIGHT SIDE! So it would be like a half suit

^someone dress their dog in a half suit and I'll pay you whatever you want on any server. I need this in my life.

Can't argue the shoulder argument.

I was more talking about the back legs, and the muscles.

Though our legs have a far superior range of motion, they still pretty much perform the same purpose.

Though our arms and their front legs(I admit it) couldn't be much more different.

5hift 01-20-2016 03:39 AM

Our legs are extremely inefficient compared to that of a dogs or most animals.

Since quadrupeds can run using the strength of all 4 limbs, they can easily outrun a human being.

They're also a hell lot more more balanced since they have 4 points of contact with the ground making them very rugged and versatile on rough terrain.

Dogs can pretty much pee anywhere and have humans pick up after them.

Dogs - 1 Humans - 1

TWIZ 01-20-2016 10:11 PM

I can crawl on four limbs any day, but that doesn't mean I have four legs. As for dogs, vice versa. Convergent and divergent evolution; it's first grade material.

Victory 01-20-2016 10:43 PM

Dogs still have shoulders, and feet with heels. Our limbs are similar for a reason; you can call them legs by defining their primary use, or arms by relating anatomy. I prefer the relation theory. Has anyone used the term larms yet?

I think it can go either way.

When dogs wear socks or booties, they wear them on all 4 paws right?

I've seen a dog wear booties on just his left side.

I've seen a dog with a mask. Like not even a collar. A mask.

I've seen a dog with tin foil on its tail. Just why not.

To be fair though the whole booties thing is so stupid... That's why you train your dog to wipe their paws before entering the house... Scientists didn't make the booties. Random fashion designers did. Chances are they just saw 4 paws and didn't even think about what were legs and what were arms.
---
Either way that point is invalid. I wear socks and gloves to protect my body from getting dirty/cold/lose heat. Doesn't mean I have 4 legs... Doesn't even mean I walk on two legs. Most people who use aid still wear socks... Even people without toes wear socks... Hold on. Can we please just focus on how stupid socks are? If it weren't for socks and our human nature to just live with the 'okay for now' we probably would have already found a way to make shoes that are so fancy that they never retain too much moisture, don't get dirty, and are easily wearable without having to take them out... #DownWithSocks2016

Booties are necessary during the winter when there is salt spread all over the roads.

That salt is a lot stronger than regular table salt and can actually damage the padding on the bottom of a dog's paws if left unprotected.

As for socks, they may wear them for the same reasons we do. Cold paws.

I said 2arms and 2legs they just walk on their hands and legs, plus my dog is always using its front hands/paws to wipe its hair away from its eyes etc lol
