Wisdom Teeth
 

Has anyone had their wisdom teeth done? I have an appointment on Wednesday for it and am a little nervous about it.

Depending on your age, I think the sooner they're out the better, so thats good!!

Had my wisdom teeth removed last summer. It wasn't fun but for a 2-3 months the hurting goes away (atleast for me). Also eat soft foods until fully healed.

I just had my second wisdom tooth surgically removed and it went really well, way better than last time, with way less pain and swelling. This time I only needed painkillers during the first night, and it was easier to eat after the surgery. Though people mostly will tell you how bad it is to remove them, I'd rather experience a small amount of pain over a couple of hours/days rather than having the teeth go infected and hurt for years. Best of luck though!

Will it affect my communication with others? I work in a restaurant and I often communicate with my Co workers and customers so I was wondering if it would interfere with that.

I got mine pulled two years ago and was off for 3 days of work. When I went back my mouth was still swollen, but I was able to talk fine. It's not as scary as everyone makes it out to be either. They did me on the laughing gas too so I was awake, but didn't feel ****

I had mine pulled out I'm 15 I still have holes doesn't hurt but after the first week you gonna want eat rely good food no liquid but u gotta keep away because it can just cause an infection if u get food back there

Should I schedule work off next week then as its on Wednesday and work is Friday & Saturday?

Are you going to get all four pulled?

Wasn't told specifics, just that I had to come in for my wisdom teeth to be done so I'd assume all 4 as they don't feel right in my mouth when I touch them with my tongue, though there isn't really any pain.

I heard the process itself isn't very painful but after the operation your mouth is going to be sore as hell.

I imagine its similar to what getting braces feels like.

Definitely not. With braces your teeth are a bit sore for a day or two, with wisdom teeth your gums and basically your entire mouth feel inflamed and become swollen.

Probably not agonizing pain, but I wouldn't imagine it being like braces.

I'd assume they didn't grow out wrong.

Guri posted my thread on the experience, I only posted the first couple days of it but it was pretty uneventful after that, just the stitches coming out was obnoxious but not bad. Was even able to work the day after my operation.

I think as long as you aren't getting them pulled out in the 1800s like Dusty the operation won't be bad.

Braces sucked 100x more imo.

I had all 4 of mine removed when I was 15 or 16 or something. They gave me Valium the night before I had them removed. It. Was. Awesome. Best sleep I've ever had in my life omg.

As for the surgery, it's not bad. I got put under though so I don't remember much of it. I woke up a few times but I was half asleep and just passed back out. I remember waking up on my couch and my jaws hurt really bad, but that's what the insane amount of ice cream you get to eat are for :D

I got simple pain killers. I didn't feel pain during the procedure. I was confused when the doctor joked about me being high (really wasn't despite whatever meds they gave before my mom dropped me off).

I didn't go to work the day after my operation, but I was feeling better when I got off the pain killers after two days. I had an inflammation around the wisdom tooth the first time I had to remove a wisdom tooth. The second time I had no inflammation and would have gone to work the next day if I didn't get it removed during Christmas break.

You should tell your job that you're going to get your wisdom teeth pulled and that you're unsure how you'll feel after the procedure. That way they can plan to have some substitutes ready to take over your shift if you can't go to work. That's at least what I would do.

They give you HELLA strong pain meds like vicodin and you're completely blasted for like 2 straight weeks.

After reading Simon's and John's thread I don't feel too nervous nor afraid of the aftermath since the outcome is different for everyone. I'll have to see if I can reschedule to next week not the upcoming as for work I cant find someone to cover my shift bc no one really likes graveyard shifts. Thanks everyone, I'll probably update this within 2 weeks when I have them done and get a feel of it.

Not too shabby. Only had two taken out, going back next week for the other two. I'd say the ride back was probably the worst part of it, not even the procedure. (Not talking physical pain but just private stuff)

Idk why you wouldn't want to get all four out together, though im not your orthopedic surgeon, he probably had his reasons.

I got all four of mine out last summer, wasn't bad at all. Didn't feel any pain, had oxytocin and Tylenol. Had mostly Slushies and stuff for two days, either way glad to hear your operation went well.

Bottom two teeth or top two?

Nope but was given an extra shot to numb out the pain.

He planned on fixing 2 teeth and the top and bottom wisdom in the left part. I'll have my right side done next week but until then I'm able to chew in my right side for the time being. Wasn't that bad honestly, I didn't feel any pain or swelling during or after.

Ah, makes some sense now.

Yeah, it isn't that bad really. I only bled for the first few hours when I got home, no swelling or pain so medication probably kicked in maybe. Used the gauze the second day for an hour when I woke up since I bled a little but other than that I'm able to eat on the right side of my mouth carefully and slowly.
