Nope, the limit is based on characters and increasing that limit would only mean sending more data back and forth.

staff should just consider allowing us to use the iframe HTML tag in our statuses, nothing but could come out of that

Come to think of it... do statuses use the most data?
When someone doesn't have any text on their status, do they still send data?

I guess yours is pretty small.
