Get Rid of Thoughts?

So, recently, I've been thinking a lot, and that disrupts my sleep...
I can't sleep.
Every night, when I lay down, my mind is just full of thoughts... Like I tried to empty it, but then after a while, the thoughts returns, rendering me unable to sleep.

Have any of you ever had this problem? Where you can't sleep even when you're exhausted because your mind is just bombarded with thoughts? If so, what did you do? How did you get rid of those thoughts and sleep? For the past few days, I've been having trouble sleeping, and that is bad, because I have plans for the next day with people. i just want to sleep in serenity x.x even listening to some tranquil music doesn't help. Everyday, I just go on my bed, and just lay there with my eyes closed, and before I even realized it, it's already 3:00 AM and I'm still awake, full of thoughts on my mind. Idk. If you know any advice to vacate thoughts from my mind, I'd really appreciate it if you comment how, or what you did when this happened to you.

I had this problem, the best thing you could do is avoid doing nothing, if you can't sleep and your neighborhood is safe - run around, you'll come home exhausted.

If you wanna get rid of your current thoughts then do what you love most, your hobby. Like writing, drawing, or be like me and get into papercraft and origami.

Have you tried meditation? You may find the app 'Smiling Mind' helpful. It's nothing yoga/religious/cult - ish, it's simply breathing exercises to clear your mind. I find it really helpful, hope you do too!

Tip: don't think.

Sorry noob, I don't have any helpful tips... I'm the kind of guy who never stresses about anything. I can't remember the last time I remembered a dream I had... It's been years. Everything that happened has already happened, and everything that will happen will already happen, so there's no point stressing about it. Just face it when it happens. All I could tell you is to think of life like that - but I guess that's easier said than done.

Vicipower 07-12-2016 02:02 PM

it takes me an hour to fall asleep, its unavoidable for me.
dunno if that problem is rly fixable so gl

Man, it's so weird. During the day, I can feel sleepy, and sleep normally. However, when it's night time, no matter how exhausted I am, it's just so difficult for me to sleep. My bed is pretty comfy, and my pillow is nice and soft, but I still cannot sleep.
I try not to think, but the thoughts will always come back... 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, 4 hour, no matter how many times I try to empty my mind, I cannot clear it.
It's great that it's summer time, and I can sleep in, but I cannot keep on sleeping like this lol.
Also, like I said in my original post, listening to tranquil music does not help. Music actually keeps me conscious no matter how serene it may sound.
Walking is something I'll try tonight, same thing to meditating.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Watch TV. Those commercial breaks are killer.

Wolfie 07-12-2016 09:27 PM

I'll try that.

I used to remember them when I was younger. I'd remember them every night. Then all of a sudden I stopped remembering any dream. I've probably only remembered 3-5 dreams in the past 5 years.

I think maybe that's not healthy but I could be wrong. I'm 18 and I can recall 2 of my dreams last night very vividly. One of them I was spider man fighting black spider man at my high school gym and then my other one I was in some laboratory trying to get someone out who was captured but I remember the small details in it. Eyyy and I remember my dream from like 2 nights ago too lol.

But also I feel like a lot of times during the day something will happen and it will just trigger the dream I had. It's very weird but happens a lot to me

Honestly I can remember most of my dreams vividly, and it helps when I write them down because I can easily replay the images in my mind when I look back at my descriptions. I also remember a dream where I was on a rollercoaster with my classmates from 1st or 2nd grade. (Some dreams I just remember snippets but they're usually from elementary school so)

The only time I ever remember my dreams nowadays is if I've rolled d420

boy are they weird dreams tho

Distorted_P2P 07-13-2016 03:37 AM

I just try and focus on one thing that doesn't make me anxious or increase my thought cycle, especially at night.

5hift 07-13-2016 04:28 AM

Count sheep or listen to the sound of rain or a heartbeat.

If the kind of thoughts you are having are important ones you want to remember then writing them down somewhere should make them stop bouncing around in your head.

It's normal to not remember dreams. The brain filters out things it thinks is unimportant nonsense, and for a lot of people dreams fall into that category.

Wolfie 07-13-2016 08:37 PM

Yay, I was able to sleep comfortably for once. Though it's probably because of multiple days of being deprived from sleep

Weeno 07-13-2016 09:12 PM

My tip is watch things you enjoy on youtube for quite a while until you have the urge to sleep. Youll then be too tired to even think and even if you did, itll probably about what u were watching on yt. Though I don't suggest this if you have any thing important to do the next day

Crono 07-13-2016 09:15 PM

get sleeping pills that aren't addictive and don't build tolerance

id tell you to see a doctor but i always forget that you folks gotta pay so much for basic healthcare support lel

Pr0m4N V.14 07-14-2016 04:36 PM

Get a lobotomy, that's one way or remove thoughts.

But you won't get all of these all at once.

Don't forget depression, suicidal thoughts or actions, or death!

Wolfie 07-16-2016 11:45 AM

After 3 days of testing w/e you guys suggested, it's still the same. I still cannot sleep.
Only like 1/3 of those days, I was able to sleep normally. Though that was because I was sooo tired because I'm losing sleep
