iPhone 7 Announced Officially

Hey there!

Apple has announced the new model of their yearly upgraded flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7. The new iPhone in my opinion has a lot of advancements that'll benefit my everyday life. I'm not going to go into super detail, though my favorite upgrades are the Waterproofing, Haptic Home-button, and the Camera Upgrades. The default storage capacities were doubled as well and hold the same pricing as last year.

Check it out!
http://www.apple.com/iphone-7/

Specs: http://www.apple.com/iphone-7/specs/

Right now I have the iPhone 6s Plus 128GB and I'm loving it. I'll be going with the iPhone 7 Plus 128GB, super happy that it's the price of the 64GB from last year. Though I haven't decided on a color..

Which will you be purchasing? Happy with your old phone?

Pre-Order is tonight at 12:01AM PST!

Im still happy with my current phone, IPhone 5S lol! Only because I dont have enough money to upgrade for awhile. But im happy staying at my current model.
Although the 7 does look pretty cool, and I may decide to upgrade some time in the future...

This is beyond ******ed.

Steve Jobs is literally dying in his grave.

Who's the genius who thought removing the headphone jack was a good feature?

Are Apple designers and employees devolving into Neanderthals? Because it sure looks that way.

Who.

The ****.

Cares?

Buy a goddamn waterproof case, that's probably a lot cheaper than their demented Air Pods.

WHICH BY THE WAY, ONLY LAST FOR 5 HOURS.

OH THANKS APPLE, I REALLY LOVE HAVING TO CHARGE MY HEADPHONES. THIS IS SO CONVENIENT. OOPS I LOST ONE, GUESS I'LL HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER.

Apple has evolved into the EA of mobile phone industry. NEAnderthals

Margadosh 09-09-2016 01:59 AM

It costs $1.2k here...lol kms

Waiting for the upgrade aye

imSupah 09-09-2016 02:22 AM

Sticking to my 5s for now and upgrading to 6s this fall. Screw the 7. Too expensive and not really worth it as of now. It's even more stupid that the new headphone jack is the lighting connector. Means I can't charge, listen to music, and play my iPhone all at the same time anymore unless I get wireless ones. Nope.

Waterproofing? It will once again feature IP67 rated water resisitance, like the Galaxy S5. The S7 is rated IP68, which is not really monumental, but probably a small step above beyond the nano coating on both devices. The S8 is expected to feature the same resistance rating, announced in Spring.
(Apple has avoided the standard water resistance rating system until this model)

This is literally the game plan in the market. People don't really care about its water resistance, it just looks great when they purchase it so they can advertise it as such. Realistically, they don't have to dump a lot of money into it because everyone is using a case anyway.

Apple's decision to remove the headphone jack probably is an act of "courage" to continue to lead the market to the "next generation" or "next standards" of technology. Bluetooth headphones/earbuds are nothing new, but I'm sure much like the previous iterations of Apple headphones, any other brand you go with will probably deliver the same experience, or offer a bit more.

I think Apple really "went through the motions" here, expecting existing customers to really stick to the brand no matter what. The downside is that I believe they will still succeed.

EDIT: Also, I don't mean to knock the OP from posting, just voicing my opinion.. All in all, the company still produces great phones and I'm sure this will be no exception. I just personally think it will leave a bit to be desired from me as a customer.

Waterproof cases are terrible, they bulk your phone up significantly compared to a typical bumper case and put an extra layer between your screen that can make it harder to use if there's any kind of gap.

twilit 09-09-2016 03:34 AM

or you could just not do water-related things with your damn phone.//

But really, who needs a 256gb phone?
And I use earphones for everything... Okay so I dont upgrade. But eventally Ill need to upgrade. And there will be no option, assuming they dont put the port back in future generations.

Weeno 09-09-2016 04:06 AM

It seems cool I guess, I can see my self using the normal black colored version.

Areo 09-09-2016 04:14 AM

No headphone jack is beyond stupid. I don't want to have crapples be my only option for headphones

John 09-09-2016 04:17 AM

I ain't going to lie this would be a major upgrade from my HTC One M8 and I'm slowly leaning back towards Apple since I've been with Android for three years now...

Weeno 09-09-2016 04:25 AM

What's the price again? Lemme guess 2k?

Sardon 09-09-2016 05:04 AM

the camera thing is ok, the waterproofing is a joke because iphones are anorexic and you will probaly crack the screen before you even get to test it out.
They also removed the headphone jack so basically this is a downgrade

The phone industry will die in a few years during the rise of the hololens ;)

TWIZ 09-09-2016 05:09 AM

Notice how every time Jobs is gone Apple goes to ****

That's ridiculous to think, the phone industry is constantly evolving

And hololens is definitely not going to replace phones. Social media is the gasoline for phones, and social media is not going to leave. Hololens, or any AR, doesn't and probably won't offer what social media offers.

Neku* 09-09-2016 07:39 AM

the airpods or earpods or whatever pods just sound like a remake of wireless beats, you know, the one that's only the earpiece.

checked out apple's version of them and i can already tell that i'm going to lose those. :/

Oh, it has P3. Didn't know that's already a thing for phones, back then everyone said P3 is almost the same as sRGB and that it is only noticed on bigger screens.

Not sure why they say on the specs site that only some models have "CDMA EV‑DO Rev. A". What has the other ones?

However, with my experience with Apple, I prefer to wait. Once again.

Maybe iPhone SE 2 will be a thing.

Clown 09-09-2016 11:23 AM

Should be an option for I want the phone but can't afford it

Lambda 09-09-2016 11:39 AM

The base storage model is a bit cheaper that the last iPhone, but they must be out of their goddamn mind if they think removing the headphone jack is a good idea.

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...6c55aaa8dc.jpg

Removing something that has been standard for decades, so they could make the phone "thinner" (wtf I don't want a thinner phone, I'd take a big phone with a big battery), and include that gimmicky taptic engine.

whats the point of making the phone slimmer if you get an off-center bulge for the camera???

Hugop 09-09-2016 01:00 PM

Obviously they can turn the storage and battery 3x better, but that needs to be done slowly, or else they couldn't upgrade it anymore.

because it literally says "purchasing" so its a pretty fair assumption

Zetectic 09-09-2016 02:49 PM

Not that I was planning to buy anyway, but good thing that they've doubled the capacity and it looks like the iphone 7 is featuring a lot of newest hardware technology.

Meant to vote for the iPhone 7 128GB. Plus it's all a matter of preference whether or not you choose to buy the phone.

They're not removing it to make it thinner. They're taking it away because it was one of the last loopholes in their closed system, which is great for them and terrible for the consumer.

My iphone 6 works perfectly fine, and i'm almost guaranteed to lose one of the wireless headsets. The iphone speaker improvement is useless to me as I will use actual speakers if I want to listen to music outloud.
Bluetooth headphones aren't as good sound quality as wired so until they add a jack to their iphone 9 or whatever version it is when I need a new phone I won't be upgrading.

Don't really see why anybody would want to upgrade unless their job required overseas calls or that was something you did regularly. The camera on iphone 6 is still good, if you want to be a photographer then you'd use a real camera. Waterproof is only useful to people that somehow frequently drop their phone in water, faster performance I can't see the need for unless all you do with your phone is play games. Better brightness- not many people use full brightness anyway so kind of irrelevant to me and the stereo system- Again I don't really know when people use their phone volume above halfway unless you are showing someone a video

Colin 09-09-2016 07:52 PM

I think removing wired headphones was a great move.

Honestly, wired headphones of any sort are annoying and the wire just gets in the way most of the time, wireless headphones allow more flexibility and more comfortable listening as well as allowing you to listen further from your device.

Also, the sound quality is supposedly much better.

So removing the choice to have either was a good idea?

Wireless headphones are great and have their place but are by no means superior. Battery and sound quality are always going to be big problems with them.

PigParty 09-09-2016 09:12 PM

I've got a Galaxy S4 right now and I'm probably keeping it for another year at least. I don't see myself buying an iPhone because they're overpriced imo and I feel like they go obsolete quicker than androids. My iPad 4 is starting to get problems and has been trying to make me download their newer iOS version for months now, popping up messages every day. I know I'll only get more problems if I download it, though. The new iPhone looks cool, but phones and accessories are already expensive as hell, and now they're going to have expensive bluetooth earphones that are so small and will be easy to lose. If I lose earphones now, I can buy another pair for cheap.

Santa Claus 09-09-2016 09:35 PM

The main reason why I am upgrading is because my iPhone 6 is only 16 Gb which I cant even download ios 10 since it is poop.
When I went to buy an iphone 6 i wanted the 64gb iphone sadly they didnt have any and they were going to be ordered and come a month later. which i coudlnt wait and needed the phone at the time.

I am getting the iphone 6 32gb. Too me 128 is a crap load of storage and i dont need it.

Now will i be getting the Airpods? Maybe I dont like 100% sold on them I do like the fact they are small but what if you are running and fall you will most likely drop one and lose it.
I wish they added a little bend to it so that doesnt happen.
I personal hate big headphones. which is why I never bought beats or any other crap like that.

My apple watch can use bluetooth headphones so I wont need to have my iphone playing music just my watch saving a bit more battery on my phone.

And for the people calling others stupid or dumb for buying something they enjoy please stop. We earn our money and we can spend it as we please.

captainhaxs 09-09-2016 09:42 PM

^

its kinda sad to see the company that started the smart phone revolution make such terrible decisions.
removing the headphone jack was about selling adapters, overpriced Bluetooth headphones.
no thanks :P

that being said my perferences for a phone are not really the norm, i want a phone where i can make modifications at will, and mess around with third party development and not be bothered by drm etc.

i dont mind wireless, but forcing it atm is stupid. battery life on the buds is ****, sound quality will be the same (slightly worse technically speaking), and there are still a lot of people who use the jack to connect it to their cars (since a lot of pre-smart phone era cars only have a headphone jack and not bluetooth). the buds apple is offering are ****ing mad expensive too.

what to do:
- was going to get note 7 but it explodes
- was thinking maybe switch to iphone but not having a headphone jack really is a nope for me no matter what.

Guess I will just go with exploding phone and yolo it

I love that their going back to having black phones again, they were my favorite colors. The whole headphone jack thing is just ****ing stupid. It's as if their trying to get everyone to switch to what their doing.

No wonder Apple is losing profit, they have stopped being innovators and now their behind everyone

You do know it comes with a lightning cable that you plug in and it has the headphone jack on the other side... I am sure some cheap company will sell the divider so you can charge and listing to music

But to remove the headphone jack is just stupid in a way.

There is no reason to remove it unless they went with the Usb-C like their laptops. It isn't courage. It is being assholes to make more profit.

I think the 'how will I charge and listen at the same time while I drive' problem is easily solved and is on most new cars already.

Any ****ty old car with an AUX port and a 12V can be 'upgraded' to Bluetooth with a $20-40 hands free kit.

e.g. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJFGE0K

From what I've seen any newer car that has a USB port not only charges but is able to play music through the stereo as well.

Wireless sound quality will improve, perhaps someone will even develop a nice cheap pocket Bluetooth DAC so you no longer have to physically tether your phone to your headphones to begin with.

You should never listen to music via headphones for 5 hours straight and should be taking breaks while listening, leaving you plenty of time to charge it.

if you're in a situation where you'll be using it for 5 hours or more away from your house then you most likely will have an easy way to store and charge it (car, backpack, etc)

Case allows a 24-hour charge to be stored and a little 15 minutes of charging gives you 3 hours of use.

You also have Siri access with these, granting you the ability to use GPS features such as asking where a place is or requesting directions, making phone calls, picking what song to play, changing volume, etc, all while leaving your phone in your pocket.

Also Crono, you realize the headphones come with the phone right? It's not like people have to buy them separately.
