Bracket and Predictions for 2016 Ator/205 RPS tournament
James205 and Ator wanted to host a tournament between current and aspiring Rock Paper Scissor legends, so we set up a bracket of 32: http://challonge.com/classicrps
It'll be on on Saturday, December 10th @ 7pm EST in James205's guild house. Everyone will show up and we'll run through the bracket just like the GST. James should be streaming it on his Twitch channel, and Zetectic sent me a PM so he might be around to make sick metal edits for YouTube. Winner will get $20, generously offered by James. We're also going to have a bracket predictions contest, sort of like a March Madness thing. I don't have too many ideas for a prize yet, but right now I'm willing to give 10 Christmas gifts to whoever first comments the name of the final winner. We'll probably come up with something more, but for now just consider it to be for bragging rights. To participate in the prediction contest, simply reply to this thread with who you think will win the entire tournament. The first person to predict the winner will get the prize. You don't have to predict a score, just the winner of the tournament. This is supposed to just be a fun holiday thing for Graal, but we're trying to get others involved and maybe show staff that there's interest in an official Rock Paper Scissors tournament. Thanks in advance to anyone who shows up to watch and to James and Ator for the idea and prize offering. |

|
Do you think RPS is a f***ing joke Lia?
|
How do you participate
|
Maybe if RPS gains popularity they will finally make a card game
I've been dreaming of that since I saw the deck of cards in the Owls nest :D |
Study up fellas, I predict I'm going to win this **** anyway, but in case you do study you can ask yourself this:
Why should I study RPS? What will RPS do for me? As with any sport, the answer to these questions is “That depends on what you put into it.” RPS is gaming at its most basic, its most fundamental. Take anything away, and it ceases to be a game at all. Every other game, at some level, contains RPS. Like chess or fencing, the rules are simple, but the game itself is as complex as the mind of your opponent. Playing RPS probably won’t make you rich and famous. Chances are good you won’t win an Olympic gold medal. And it’s not likely to improve your physique, maximize your sex appeal, jump-start your career or expand your memory. Many players have found, however, that studying RPS gives them a greater understanding of how gaming relates to human behavior. In that sense, RPS can help you find success in other areas, but only if you have the determination to work hard and think hard – not just in RPS, but in every area of your life. |
you may not win a gold medal but you can make that prick James literally pay you and that's about as close as it gets

As far as predictions go looks like Exalt may have a breeze of a bracket. First round against Qes? Qes may be a self proclaimed top 11 sparrer but he's barely a top 300 RPSer. Excited to see the amount of **** he talks about RPS only to be shut down round one

My Predictions for 1st round: Exalt (Whitebeard) vs Qes (DoT) - honestly this is one for the ages. exalt rps skills have dramatically improved in the last month and I personally have seen him practicing in his gh vs primetime and he 3-0'd prime in rps by using the paper/scissor tactic that has been taking off on the server lately. Exalt also seems to respond when someone pulls out scissors and he clutches it. Qes on the other hand don't doubt his use rock, he knows how to throw that out at the correct time. He still tends to throw out paper at the wrong time but his 3-2-1 combo is improving. My Predicted Winner: Exalt - never doubt the passion of a basement dwelling no lifer. ------ Demrow (SLX) vs Pip Daddy (Holy) - HOLY VS SLX - personally demrow said he might not make it so Pip might have an ez first round bye unless we get this replaced. Pip tends to use paper while demrow is more of a scissors guy, should be interesting matchup if it happens. I personally saw Pip getting rekt by a couple siderooming rps members the other day so he is going to have to bring his A game if he wants to take down the Dem. My Predicted Winner: Demrow (SLX) - if he shows up ------ Mac (M8S) vs Kicko (Sage) - lots of drama in this matchup. These 2 seem to not get a long and they have a history here which Kicko makes sure to talk about 5 times every day: But this is RPS and not some no skill **** like sparring. This is Mac's chance to redeem himself for almost being 10-0'd in dumb spar. Personally I think Kicko has the edge in this match as his 6-2-1 RPS nitro combos are pretty unique and crazy. My Predicted Winner: Kicko (Sage) - his 6-2-1 nitro combination with scissor/paper might be too much for Mac. Mac is going to get the 3-6-1 down first. ----- Inco (VIS) vs 205 (Whitebeard) - Inco can practice all he wants but no matter what he will always have a negative RPS ratio for a reason. He tends to choke and he doesn't even have the 3-2-1 down and just throws out rock like a blockhead. He is going to need a miracle to even win once vs me. My Predicted Winner: 205 (Whitebeard) - inco aint got **** on me, expect me to flaw his ass and calling him out live on stream ----- aTor (Government) vs Rebels (VIS) - Rebels has claimed himself as the gold standard of RPS and no one will even come close to beating him in this tournament. That may be true if he meant the gold standard of dog ****. Rebels is overrated and I saw him get flawed by Inco, that's how bad he is. aTor's game is solid, he plays it safe and doesn't get fooled by paper like ever. His reaction time to throw out scissors is above average and his RPS ratio has improved dramatically and he can clutch with scissors quite often, it's impressive. My Predicted Winner: aTor ----- Jose (VIS) vs Kieran (is weeb) - I'll be honest I am not sure if Jose even knows how to RPS so this might be a unique match. I've seen some cases where a player that is just learning get some beginners luck but at the same time I know Kieran has been practicing his RPS non stop and getting the 7-2-1 6-4-1 3-2-1 scissor overthrow to paper combos down a lot. Kieran actually might be one of the best RPS to ever set foot on graal and is my personal favorite to win it all. Kieran is basically the RPS community god. My Predicted Winner: Kieran - Kieran is the best RPS'r of all time, don't see him going down in the 1st round and his use of scissor can't be beaten. ---- Collin (Canada) vs TBD - Colin doesn't have a match yet but I wanted to point out no matter who goes up vs Colin... Colin will lose because he is horse **** and sucks. My Predicted Winner: Anyone but Colin |
Prediction:
1. Qes 2. Spiderman 3. James205 thats if i decide to participate this time around, I really haven't been practicing much but all i need to do is log on and press Rock Paper or Scissors and I'll wreck everybody else ez. Greatest Of All Time. Just figured I'd brag before i flaw you, RPS 1233 wins 0 losses 1 tie. Dark is gunna get butthurt when he losses and try to make another crappy RPS tier list that nobody takes seriously, but everybody knows who the real Legendary Tier is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9CeC3yrcG4 Quote:

I treat my haters like I treat my baby sister when she's crying, I just don't listen to them they are non-existent to me
One thing about RPS, it brings out personality. People are able to watch me in action. They hear my rock, see my paper, feel my scissors. There's nothing I can hide. That's me. RPS brings out your flaws, your weaknesses, your strengths, and your truths. The audience either likes you or it doesn't $20 to whoever outs James205 |

I have to disagree with Qes and James here. Colin fantasizes about so much lesbian porn that scissoring is the only thing he knows how to do correctly. He's still going to get smacked regardless
|
When I enter it's gonna be no comp, I pull out my rock and beat everyone, gonna be streaking on you noobs
|
If ator actually puts me in, you're all ******* dead.
Bringing an unheard of RPS style from the ******* underground, proven to beat the mother******* best of the best. I'll be bring tissues for my opponents. |
All talk, but you can't rock or scissor or even PAPER like i do. like if you can't even paper like I paper I don't see the point in trying.

Anyway you gonna choke you don't even know how to do a 3-2-1 and your nitro combo skills are equivalent to a newborn playing RPS |
Alright James told me to participate so you all can go home now
|
Y'all best only use paper so I can get that paper.
|
Exalt (Whitebeard) vs Qes (DoT) - Exalt may be an average sparrer, but he's no where near a decent RPS player. His win to loss ratio averages somewhere between 1:19. Worst of all? He always blames it on 'luck'. I don't know too much about Qes, but I am certain that no one can lose against Exalt.
Just a reminder, since players are still joining, the bracket is still subject to change. If you'd like to continue predicting the winner, stick to predicting the winner of the entire tournament until the final bracket is established. |
Enlarged to 64 players?
It'd be best to have it exactly that, byes are dumb. |

Yes, ideally, our goal would be to host a 64-person tournament, however since some people may be absent, we must compensate by inviting subs as well.

So many new people are being added. What is interesting is Brett (Holy) is participating and I thought he had retired from the RPS scene but it looks like he's coming back to try to win the RPST again. Really interesting and changes the entire tourney but the question I wonder is... Maybe Brett is just too old for this now? With the new implementation of the 7-4-1 and 6-0-1 along with the aggressive nitro combos I am not sure Brett can keep up with this younger rps squad but then again he is an experienced veteran so maybe he has some new tricks up his sleeve. |
Maybe we should make an iDev only bracket and a Mixed bracket to be fair???

Here comes inco already making excuses for his inevitable loss to James
|
Saw lots of practice just now.
Observations: - Jose got some serious work to do, believe he only won once. He has one day to get his moves down otherwise Kieran going to fly away with that victory - Call started out strong but he seemed to get confused by is double combo paper, not sure what happened with him. - Jack Sparrow is very strong, not in the tourney but I haven't seen him RPS before so always good to see a new member - Tek looks strong as well but I'm not sure if he qualifies in the top tiers just yet. We will see. - Super might be extremely underrated, love his use of rock and scissor in the 5-3-4 combo set. - Scar got flawed by Call, but he has time to improve for the RPST - Mex joined just now, seems to be keeping his technique a secret so watch out for that. |
