It seems like a heavy pay2win game, is this true or is progression without payments alright?

If you get it right now I believe you will start with 2,000+ gems which is a really good kick off.

In some part it is p2w but is hard to explain, I haven't encountered an OP deck and you can build a strong one enough to take any deck out there...

You would need to pay hundreds of dollars (not joking) to have a "p2w" deck, it's all about your luck while opening packages. I haven't had problems with online duels, I always have balanced duels, plus I enjoy the game more with friends so yeah, it's hardly a p2w

Used to play it, got bored of it. So repetitive.

Just got the game, should I buy any packs with the gems I've gotten?

I bought 10 packs from each minibox, I recommend you buying at least 20 from The Ultimate Rising because it is getting removed very soon, if not already.

You can see all the cards the miniboxes have so you can plan out a strategy/specialized deck, I am a spellcaster dude so yeah. Gems are just for packs, so go for it :p

Bought some packs and I think I got a strategy going, haven't tested it out yet though

Just tried out my nooby deck and surprisingly worked pretty good.

Tried 2 online matchmaking duels, it's impossible to win as a newbie when others summon 1650 base stat monsters

I would say yes, some cards have some really OP effects compared to other (i.e. mirror wall) and paying money is a quick way to obtain such powerful cards in quantity. With that said, they give away gems during enough events that everyone eventually catches up into terms having ultra rare cards dominating most of their deck eventually though.

One of the decks I've been playing with today (I know it's a bit nooby but I don't have enough good cards to set up a proper deck yet)


Just doing ranked duels right now and I've noticed loads of people try to stall you in the hopes you forfeit when they're about to lose.
It's annoying as hell because the timer starts from like 180 seconds

Really? Never had those people as opponents, that sounds mastily annoying lmao. Also, Kaiba, Yugi and the water guy (forgot his name) have a skill that lets you begin the duel with a field card that increases x attack to a certain type of monsters.

I use yugi and a spellcaster deck, so I get to summon dudes with 1800 atk and 1700 atk minimum. Of course a dispell card is my kryptonite

I'll probably start playing it again

My deck so far, just trying to unlock the cards to get some finished decks going

I had this insane water deck that was pissing about 4-5 players during duels

Pretty happy about it so far, need to unlock some better 4-star/3-star monsters though.
I also need to get some spell/trap cards from the neo-impact packs

(Also want to switch the ritual monster set to the one that summons blue eyes)

Up to level 30 he is a piece of cake to beat in my opinion.
You can easily stop his 5-turn win skill if you have this card from the neo-impact cardpacks:

I personally just put 2 of them in my deck whenever I duel him just in case I don't win before the skill activates.

Are you just using 20 cards you can use 30 at max for dueling

I use 20 cards because it's easier to get through your deck and get the cards you actually need into your hand and onto the field.
It's usually not advised to have more than 24 cards at max unless you have a deck that is specifically made to do so, other than that it will actually be able to decrease your chances of winning by quite a lot.


Also I just got a mirror wall card from packs and currently leveling up my Bakura so I can test out some of his skills. :D

I like to keep extra equip cards in case I duel someone who spams them and gj on that mirror wall card I'm currently trying to get only getting junk :(

I want to make a farm deck really bad but I'm going to have to grind out lvl 30+ kaiba to get enemy controller cards which are SR so that's gonna be a pain :'(
