As announced here, we are celebrating the seventh birthday of Graalians.com with a video contest!

Theme: Show off your favorite Graal Online activity/activities or make a humorous/parody video based in Graal.

How it will work:

• Users must submit a link to their video in this thread or using the submission form here (click here). Videos sent via private message, in-game, or anywhere else besides in this thread or by the submission form will not be considered submissions.
• Videos must be uploaded to Youtube.com, and must be public (not private or unlisted). For those that submit via forum post, I would recommend including your Graalians.com forum username in the description, otherwise we may ask you to verify you are the uploader. For those submitting via form, make sure to include all the information requested on the form.
• Videos submitted by submission form will be posted in this thread by me after I watch them to verify they follow the rules.
• Stick to the games' soundtracks, music you made, or royalty-free music if you plan to submit a video for the promotion category. This also applies to sound effects. If you use copyrighted music or sound effects under fair use, your submission will only be considered for the humorous video category.

• You may post submissions, contest questions, constructive criticism on submissions, and so on in this thread.
• Anyone with an account on the website may participate by posting in this thread. People without a Graalians.com account must use the submission form linked above.
• One submission per category per person - you may not submit multiple videos to a category. That means a maximum of two videos per person! Please specify which category or categories you are entering in your post.
• If you would like to submit one video to both categories, you may do so.

• Winners may receive random in-game items as a surprise.
• If your video is chosen for official promotional use, you will receive an additional $200 Amazon gift card.

What will the video be judged on? The video content is going to be basically based on graal activities? Also from what I understood thr winners will be chosen based on votes?

There aren't formal judgement categories, but videos should focus on showing off why playing Graal is fun. So if your video is effective in making people want to try the game out, it will get the vote of the administration.

As for the users, I don't know for sure what you guys will vote for. If anyone would like to say what they will be voting based on, feel free to make a post.

Yes, once submissions are closed voting will begin.

- Editing effects, transitions, design, ...
- Production Quality resolution, clear audio, video flow, ...
- Informativity understandable, accurate, ...
- Entertainment Value enjoyable, fun, interesting, ...
- Creativity/Originality different, unique, ...

You could also even rate how advertiser friendly the videos are but I feel like that wouldn't really be needed as it's already stated that they might be used for promotions.

There isn't a length requirement or minimum, and both of the options Liz presented are valid approaches to this contest. Do whichever you think is most effective with your ideas or how many things you'd like to present.

That said, I can't think of an effective way to show off your favorite stuff about Graal in less than 30 seconds. If someone thinks they can prove me wrong, go for it!

Just looked at some and I see what you mean. Yeah, you could go that route if that is what you'd like to do.

Also, what you want to do does not have to be specifically approved/responded to by me. My vote is equal to any other Graalians.com user, and the loose rules will hopefully inspire diverse submissions - so pursue whatever idea you wish. (So long as it doesn't break one of the rules in the "How it will work" section!)

Tfw you have a really sick idea for a promo video but too lazy to do it? Would it be acceptable to plug the tileset into the offline editor and cheat for max fps?

No. He said it can be anything. So it could be like a music video, 15 min screenplay, movie, documentary, who knows what you can make.. i think creativity might dominate this one.

Video submissions don't have to be a trailer, but that is a valid approach to the contest.

So if you'd like to make a trailer for the game, you're fine so long as it fulfills the role of showing off why Graal is fun/attracting new players.

Why not just post the contest on the news menu across all of the iOS servers if it is an official contest so that it'll reach more of an audience? I'm sure most people wouldn't mind participating if they knew about it.

I'm sure that posting it in-game would lead to more people becoming aware of graalians.com and ultimately joining the community. After all, for Graalians birthday a ton of new users would be nice to bring some new life back to the forums.

Not sure what the logo font is. It's also probably copyrighted. However, using it probably falls under fair use? Anyone with more knowledge of fair use, feel free to correct me.

Users who participate have to have a Graalians account, so there's that. I suggested it be advertised in the official discord since the people there should have accounts. We'll see!

I think if the powers that be desired the influx of new users that would bring, it would have already been done. I don't disagree - some new faces would be nice.

In planning a contest for the site, I had hoped to attract some new users. People are welcome to register if they'd like to participate - I don't think we will be seeing in-game advertisement any time soon, though.

Wait a minuite if we have the means (insert evil laugh) to create custom levels ganis npcs and everything can we design our OWN levels and stuff in order to use as props for our video...

I went "Classic" mode. I downloaded bunch of favorite, memorable moments on Graal and put them together in one minute video. I think Classic has a lot to offer and this video isn't even spoiling any newer contents that new users would have to experience on Graal. Clips are purely based on my own memories that I've had from Graal in the past, time to pass it to the next generation.


A bit of disappointment, I downloaded bunch of apps that would do "cool" effect on my clips, but ZERO idea how to get my clips from PC to iPhones. So that idea went wasted for me, if you could, please do try. They might make it a little more 'fancier'.
