Ex-Graal Coder on TEDx
The Art of Code | Zach Latta Angel (the pker) from iClassic shared this on the Official Graalians Discord. I found it very interesting, I want to repost it here. Zach talks about his experience on Graal and how he created a town called Deadwood with Azrael (Ex-Admin), probably back in 2010-11. I don't know about you, but this video was kind of a motivation for me. He's probably like 2-3 year older than me, and he and his friends are already taking off pretty high with coding knowledges (at least what he claims in the video). I've been to Hackathons and other CS events, it's not easy unless you really like coding so much. They're very enthusiastic about it, it's very nice to see. If anyone here creates a video about Graal Coding (GCode/Gscript) for the video contest, you'll have my vote over any other cool videos. Motivate these youngsters to actually get into codings and let them stay ahead of the game. |
yeah boo this ain’t it

One thing on my mind, Why is Azrael remembered to these days over all the other admins that existed? Cause I remember NYN being much more influential on iClassic, not many remembers him nor his wife. Rest are like completely forgotten. |
Its pretty weird seeing people talk about graal outside of graal seeing as though it isnt really popular at all. Would be interesting to see if there are any like pretty famous people who have played it at some point.

This TEDx talk by Zach speaks volumes for me. I've been playing Graal PC since 2007. Sadly my highschool had no computer science classes that would allow me to learn more about what I was interested in. Closes I got to was Computer Information System class, which went over Microsoft applications, which for me was stupid easy. Fast forward 6 years later from that class, after spending time in the Army trying to figure out what it was I wanted to do in life, I finally narrowed in on IT. I've been doing some college here and there along with studying A+ and Security+ books, and this is the first time in my life I have been actually interested in what I am learning. I am now currently taking an introduction to computer programming class in an online college, and strangely enough, it excites me. The biggest downside to it is that it seems most of my classmates are clueless on that fact that coding is a completely different language, where grammar and the terminology is "deeper" in meaning that what they actually seem to grasp. Sadly I am way behind in the curve that I wished to be when it comes to learning how to program, but that won't stop me in pursuing continuous education in more advanced classes, while beginning to bug Astram on giving me small projects that a beginner like myself can learn from on g code *hint hint wink wink Astram and Sad*

remember when air asia had something to do with graal lmaoooo
@vid pretty interesting to see someone openly speaking about the game, I didn’t expect Lordofpie13 to look like that to be fair aha |
didn't think it was super insightful or anything but it's cool it happened
also one of my biggest triggers is when people call Zeltino "Azrael" |
lmfao
"pick up jars" |
Maybe 2-3 weeks ago, I was on a phone call with Zach. We met over a twitter thread and he talked to me about hackathons and whatnot. He seems to be pretty successful and he doesn’t have a college education. Cool guy and an inspiration.
|
Funky. I'll ping Azrael so he sees this

One Korean Youtuber I know is a self taught programmer and he worked for Naver (Korean version of Google) for 4 years and then hired to Amazon (2 years), so he moved to US, then joined Microsoft(2 years~), cause I think they offered him a green card. |
This is surreal knowing that I knew this guy, was in his guild (Nexus) and whatnot. Happy to see he's so successful.

Man now I'm jealous that I didn't get to build stuff on iClassic. Closest I got was that I got to become a GM, but got fired after like 3 days because I leaked something I saw on RC to a "close" friend that snitched on me. Good times lol. I had to have been like 13 at the time.

haha

pretty cool

Brings me back ;)
