Help with Hair
 

Hi!
I suck at making hair, and i would like to ask if you guys could give me some tips. Here is an example, the hair looks ****ty at the bottom:

How could i avoid that spreading effect? I dont get it lol

I like it how it is, I suck at hair to lol.

I'm not the greatest at hair, but I found while looking through PC files various styles of 'hair'. On the certain server the element of hats is replaced by different types of hair. It just helped me get an outline for various heads :)! The graphics are attached below but they are NOT my creation so please do not claim them for yourself..

I can't do hair either. Well not from scratch anyways. :(

Lol those elephant ears make me laugh every time I see 'em. :P

Lol it gets annoying seeing them all the time. I'm used to it though.

I think the hair is great as it is. Perhaps downsize the ears though lol.

Hope this helps, I left the color template.. I made it more messy... If I understood you right, the shading makes the strands of hair more defined.. not just "straight down".. I also suggest you take a closer look with.. 1250% zoom? xD

lol, the graal ears look ugly if you look at them, but if you look at the characters face they dont :D

I see your problem. When you make hair slick and thin, it becomes rough and confusing to draw on the edges. In my edit I gave it a few pixels more of volume on the sides on top and let the hair fall uneven and a bit messy. This guy looks like a kung fu master so we can't expect his kungfu hair to be symmetrically perfect o3o

Lol at the kungfu thing. I personally dont like to draw hair, i prefer objects for heads... lol. But hair is annoying. Most advice I can give from someone who doesnt draw hair all the time is Draw the head shape and then the hair. Dont try hair last, i find it diffucult. I also like to mater glimmer light shading (random bright pixels matched by regualr color pixels that dont vary much). This will give it a gel affect, as if sun is shining against gel. Also the "combed" affect as when you make slightly darker color then hair and stream in in a direction you would comb it. heres an example, not a very good head but it gives a good idea of what im talking about the hair and gel. The hair form itslef needs some work tho.

I suck at hair too lol. This will be a learning experience for me as well looking over the tips.

:D Latte, I have one last remark before returning to the actual topic: please make more hats for iEra. We need hatters of your level to implement their skills on our server :P

Anyways....waht was the topic? Oh ya, lol. Hair. Coming up with new hair styles is the hardest part I think. I usually have no trouble editing the hair, changing the way it flows, it's shades, etc. That part is easy. Making the base of the hair is hard for me. :D

Lol, the base is the easiest part.. We should team up, you should I do the outline.. Outcome=best head ever?

Why specificly hats? If theres anything in need of being donated by graphic creators it is definetly over-world graphics and level attachments lol.

For iEra? I don't think so. I'm talking about replacing a lot of the older hats we have (the ones no one uses, or purchases anymore) with new/improved hats, well-made, and unique. Like Latte's stuff :) Which is why I brought it up.
