We added some NPC's around town who have been affected by this big event that's coming.

My guess is that they are about to add a new section of the map. Reasons:I play era mostly but I do get on classic sometimes and I think that they will do what classic did add a new piece of the map with a new base shops for:cars,hats,items ect.
