Graal Viewer

Any of you not playing PC graal and wanting to see what heads/bodies look like before you upload them?
Well I have the soloution.
I call it Graal Viewer.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...18640880_n.jpg
It allows you to view combinations before you upload them.
It's mainly useful for iEra and iClassic players.
Anyway it can be found here.
To use it, simply drag a head or body on to it.
Tomorrow if I have time I will be adding hats to it too, then shields.
If you spot any bugs or have suggestions, please do leave a reply :)
Side-note, transparencies do have to be set in advance, other was it will look a bit funny ;)
-Enjoy (hopefully)

Update Again!
Added hats.
Note for some odd reason you have to have a head and body set before setting a hat.
I plan on fixing this.
If you want the hats version re download it.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...16918761_n.jpg
Next is shields.
If you would like to check up on the apps progress, I will be starting a page and it will be available here.

Kavan 05-16-2012 11:04 AM

Pretty nifty, I suppose.
What language did you use to make this?

Gunderak 05-16-2012 11:06 AM

I coded it all in VB.
I would of done it in C++ but I am still learning it so it would of been a tad hard lol
If anyone would like to see a video of it before you download it, you can here
And for a VB script it's quite long lol, 180 lines and counting.

Ooh, that drag and drop idea's pretty awesome.

Notorious# 05-16-2012 11:26 AM

This is sweet, thank-you.
Note: You have to have transparencies set before hand.

Gunderak 05-16-2012 11:32 AM

Thanks and yes, i'll put that in my OP.
I don't think it's possible to set transparencies properly via VB, I mean I could add a colour picker and make the user select what colour should be transparent but then the app will look messy.

Kiwi 05-16-2012 11:34 AM

This is very cool. Good work!

Xaldin 05-16-2012 03:32 PM

better use C# in vb

Ace 05-16-2012 03:44 PM

awesome +

Tyler 05-16-2012 07:08 PM

Nifty.

Talon 05-16-2012 08:23 PM

Great program. +Rep

Pimpsy G. 05-16-2012 09:41 PM

One large problem is that since this is directed towards ipod/iphone players is that you would need to know the file name of the hat you want, which would be a pain to get if your iphone/ipod isnt jailbroken.

Gunderak 05-16-2012 11:43 PM

Well that hat feature is mainly for those who want to make hats and see if they fit and what they'd look like.
And I might be able to add a running frame but not sure. would be a bit of a pain.

Gunderak 05-17-2012 04:39 AM

Just a little update, I have been working hard to try an fix the bug but for some reason the hats aren't showing right, when I put them above the head it loses background transparency.
I'll be working to fix it.
I'm hoping to eventually add shields too, but the ratio could be a pain.

The Doctor 05-17-2012 04:52 AM

This looks interesting. I'll get it.

Marker 05-17-2012 05:42 AM

Looks cool from the picture, are you able to mac it Mac/Linux compatible?

Probably not, it's written in VB:/

Gunderak 05-17-2012 08:12 AM

I am not able to make it compatible with mac at this stage unfortunately.
But I might learn a little C# and then it might be a possibility.
Sorry.

iStorm 05-17-2012 03:18 PM

Very Usefull:D

Source code, please.

He won't give it out because screenshots are the way to proof that it's not a virus/keylogger/... nowadays (his statement on the official forums).

I have VB Studio and I want to try to edit it though... I've started vb just last month.

Gunderak 05-17-2012 11:22 PM

I may give the source code out to a few people.
Shawn I'll message you after I finish work.

MrSimons 05-18-2012 01:01 AM

Is this available for Mac?

Gunderak 05-18-2012 07:00 AM

At the current moment, no.
Later down the track I may port it, not sure yet.
But I don't actually own a Mac to test it on.
Not sure.

Gunderak 05-18-2012 08:56 AM

A sneak peak of the update system i'm working on.
It's pretty much done.
I will be releasing my updated version which will include this later tonight.

omy

Gunderak 05-18-2012 11:21 AM

omy indeed good sir. 0.o

Gunderak 05-18-2012 02:38 PM

Done some more work on the Graal Viewer..
Anyway updating is a lot easier now.
When you launch it will check for updates.
If one is available it will ask you if you want to download it, if you click yes it will replace your current file with the newer version and keep the same file name.
Once you download the original copy from here you won't have to worry about updating it manually again.

The Doctor 05-19-2012 09:48 PM

eeee! You earned a plus rep

Yephenpeace 05-19-2012 10:49 PM

It's really good, except some hats don't work for me.

Maxy 05-19-2012 10:56 PM

yeah really good except like yeph guy said, hats dont work on some :( +rep tho

The Doctor 05-20-2012 01:31 AM

I recommend adding shields.

Gunderak 05-20-2012 02:21 AM

Shields are already planned :)
But would you mind posting a few hats that don't work here so I can try to figure out why?

Higbey 05-20-2012 02:40 AM

Could you show all the sprites together please? For testing how body's and heads and hats work together? This would have been so usefull for when I made the voidbeast

Gunderak 05-20-2012 02:46 AM

I was actually thinking of doing like a multi option in the settings with like Sit, Grab, Idle etc.
Would that work?

The Doctor 05-20-2012 02:57 AM

No idea. Try it ^_^

Gunderak 05-20-2012 03:14 AM

By work I meant like work for what he wanted.

The Doctor 05-20-2012 03:16 AM

Oh.

Gunderak 05-20-2012 08:56 AM

Just another update.
I have finished implementing Higbeys idea which I had started on prior to the mention.
Anywho if you don't already have a copy head to here to get a copy.
If you do have a copy at least v1.7 with the help menu implemented, simply launch it and it should offer to update it's self.

Gunderak 05-21-2012 12:15 AM

*Casually Bump*
Anyway I have tested a fair few hats and am yet to find one that doesn't work.
If you find one that doesn't work please post it here.

DragonRider 05-21-2012 04:54 AM

You should make the update system automatically open up the default browser to the website to download the update.

The Doctor 05-21-2012 04:56 AM

It already downloads the update automatically within the application. I think there should be a "what's new in this update" page.

Gunderak 05-21-2012 08:31 AM

That seems rather boring, why not just make the application download it and let the user choose where to save it?
Anyway just another update on Graal Viewer, it now loads faster (As it checks for an update instead of hogging the application and freezing it).
You can also register you're copy and in addition you can also right click the character to save an image of it.a
You can read more about it here.

Talon 05-21-2012 08:52 AM

You should definitely add multiple graphics at once. (Head, body, hat)

Gunderak 05-21-2012 10:22 AM

Do you mean dragging like heads and bodies and hats at the same time? if so you already can.
When you drag an image on to it, the program loops through all the files being dragged. if they are images it processes them.

I was thinking of doing this but haven't really gotten around to it. I will definitely add it in the next update.

Done some more work on the Graal Viewer.
It has a new updating system and a few minor bugs have been fixed.
Here is a sneak peak on what the update system is like.
