Can't convince mom to use laptop
Hello all, I'm having trouble convincing my mom to switch with me and use my laptop and allow me to use the desktop gaming computer I built that she occupies. I need access to this gaming computer as my laptop runs on an intergrated graphics card and cannot run most games(the processor is 2.0ghz dual core and it has 4GB of ram and 500 GB of storage so it should do email and all that fine for her.)
She says she hates laptops because of the screen keyboard and just about everything. I explained to her she could use the same display/keyboard/mouse she currently uses, but she just wont listen. I also explained that the laptop is perfectly fast for lagless email, web browsing and video watching, which is pretty much all she does on the computer. Any way I can convince her to switch? I told her I could move all her files to the laptop and everything would work the exact same and she wont even notice a difference as the same interface devices would be connected to the laptop as the desktop. Tempted to overclock my laptop's processor/disable fans and overheat it so she'll let me build a new computer, as she won't let me buy a new computer as long as this one works. It's really outdated and cant run any new 3d games T_T |
I'd just take it away from her
|
easy steps:-
1) Sleep in day 2) Wake up in night 3) Play the games 4) Change the password 5) Enjoy!!! |
Convince her your gaming computer is broken so she'll have to use the laptop. If your gaming computer isn't a laptop try removing an important wire that keeps it starting up. If it's a laptop say that it overheated or got a virus. She'd have to use the laptop either way. Keep pretending over time and see if she gets used to the laptop.

lie to her.

Buy your own, better computer.
|
1) Don't overclock a laptop.
2) Why does a laptop have an onscreen keyboard? Hook up a mouse to it(and keyboard, I guess?) and show her that it functions just like a desktop but takes up a lot less space. |

I tried that btw. also @twinny she wont let me build one for myself even if I pay for the parts. She sees that my laptop isn't broken and is making me stick with it. |
1)show you'r mom this thread.
HEY YOU MOM GIVE HIM BACK HIS DESKTOP |

why is your mom occupying the gaming computer, you built?
did she buy all the parts? IF thats the case she does have the right to use it. I honestly don't know what else to suggest, I would say destroying something on purpose is not the answer. |
Sounds like your mom is stealing your stuff.

@ Skill, now that I hear a little bit about your mom I understand where you get it from! |
If you have the money that you earned, buy one anyway? That's what I did.
|
Parents could take away the computer though.. Sort of the 'right' of living in their house, if they are brave enough.
|
lol I got a $700 Gaming Desktop for my birthday and my asshole parents overtook it once all of their **** computers broke. ****ing jews.

Good thing I have a fingerprint lock on my laptop so my FBI computer specialist dad doesn't crack my password.

So you spent $700 on a computer... By buying $100 RAM and $500 on a graphics card...
100+500=600..... What did you throw the remaining $100 out the window? |

Oh wait! he'd just shove your HDD into another system and read your **** off it as a secondary HDD. In the rare case encryption is enabled, your dad probably has an admin account on your laptop (even if you don't know it) and could quite happily do whatever he pleases. |

All that wonderful CIA training being wasted invading your privacy so you don't look at porn.

That's one expensive PC. Hope it can play solitaire without frame drops.
|
Yeah once I buy that stuff it'll have 16GB of RAM and 3GB of GFX memory.
|
clarification: I only paid for the gpu on the gaming computer.

Everything has to be even. Don't buy the latest and greatest graphics card if you've got slow RAM, a slow CPU and a slow harddrive. Determine what your machines bottleneck is and improve that. Changing from an HDD to an SSD will often be a much bigger improvement for your machine then forking an extra $500 for a slightly faster CPU/Graphics card. |
gee, okay.
|
Good thing the only PC game I play is Counter Strike: Source... Else I'd be spending at least $850 on graphics cards/RAM/etc.

I found some gewd RAM that is DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820144569 - $115 for 2x 8GB http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820144583 - $108 for 2x 8GB http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820220655 - $52 for 1x 8GB Also is there much point of getting a higher RAM speed that 1600? |
Say to her that she's downloaded a virus and you'll need a month of two to fix it, when thats over say that she should buy one for herself!
|
lol I just got in a massive fight with my mom over my computer

Yeah I don't really plan on overclocking unless I get a really good graphics card.
