Hiring - realize how players act
 

Please remember that this is not a complaining thread, it's a thread to realize how players act (if you haven't already).

Today when I logged on, I could see this crowded area around start with players saying "answering any graal related questions!", "dropping items randomly!". And the people that had hope "give me rares and i vote for you!".
After checking the news, I realized they were hiring for player relations, and that this time; no applications is involved.

Are you one of the players that want to get hired? May I ask you, did you answer peoples questions kindly, before they released the news about they were hiring? I believe I could say 90% didn't, because when I've asked some players where I could get their hat, or how I could get the facebook axe/gun, they all turned there back to me, or acting "fu\cking idiot find it out yourself". But now? Now they answer peoples questions kindly, like they have always done it.

Some people see being admin is to give away free items, and make players happy. But it isn't. When dropping away stuff in the start area they can only hope that people will "vote" for them. Because I don't think any admin will hire a person who drops stuff all around the place.

Dear newb, there is no voting system. The only way you can "vote" on someone is to put there name in your status like "Wester for PR". No admins (hopefully??) will go around and look through peoples status to see who they "voted" for.

RC (Remote Control)
If I would go out there asking a random person what the RC is, they would go like "that isn't graal related??". But it is, RC is one of the most important things when it comes to handle an admin work, or taking care of a whole server. If you can't handle a RC, you aren't hired as much as I get it.

Let's go back to that admins choose how they feel this time, and how they see people act. This ends up more people want to become friends with the admins. I can really see how Kane, LavaClaw, and maybe even Peter sitting there "chilling" at start area getting spammed with 10pms per second.

And to just let all of you see how low a player can go to get hired, I will quote a guy I found earlier today. No name mentioned.
If you think this is some thread I've created to show you that I'm not one of them, and that will get me hired; you're wrong. I'm not really interested in ending up like those people have. If an admin choose me, of course I will give it a try. But I won't change the way I act to become admin. In fact; all the people that have had to change themself to become an admin will some day get tired of it and resign themself/getting fired.

is wrong. I havn't been famous on iEra and I think I have been just known by Layerd and snk a little bit since he helped me once on a previous server were I had problems with a script or something like that.

But I really like this thread since I always thought the same thing, doesn't matter if on iClassic or iEra. I don't know how they will choose the new PRs but I think this time it could be interesting

Agreed. It's what the player is actually like, not just they're application.

I believe you have been to big help around this forum, and that is probably why you was going to be a good PR.

Was going to submit an app the second round time they announced them, but just read Herb's post. Guess its all down to whether I am noticed now.

I don't think all players will be noticed by them.

What is also funny is the way people starts making threads here for being hired ;)

There actually was a point where I wanted to script for iEra and iClassic when they first came out, but then the hope I had for the servers devolved into the really crap stuff they have today.

Well Wester, nice thread, but i'm pretty sure everyone on the forums knows what to do, this thread would really be helpful if they somehow put it on iEra so everyone can see it. But the really weird thing is, since they said they have been hiring for PRs, it seems like everyone is acting so nice, almost like they have always been nice. For example, this morning (I won't say his name) A guy apologized to me, because he used to be mean. Really though, if they weren't hiring PRs, he would have never apologized.

I really like how people are acting now, but soon it might get out of hand.

And also, I saw someone in the Events House saying exactly this: "VOTE ME BECAUSE I GIVE FREE STUF AND LOVE HOSTIN EVENTS MOSTLY LAZER TAG"

and this:

"I love answering questions! Any Era related questions If you don't speak Engilsh, I speak 7 langs.!"

and this:

"I JUST WON RUSH YAY! VOTE FOR ME CUZ I WIN EVENT LAST ROND!"

I don't see how managing 1000's of applications is harder than picking through a boatload of people acting all perky and "helpful" people to find legitiment PRA material...

It's because about 1500 players play iEra. Lets say 500 of them are newbies, and barely know how to play, or they are just players that don't want to apply, or they are kind of new to Graal, but not so much a newbie. So there is 1000 left. All the 1000 players send in that application, all to 1 email. iEra only has a few people reading the applications, probably 3-4 people, reading 1000 applications. On iEra, the 3-4 Staff members can just look around, or watch people they think are fit to be a PR, and they just have to watch their actions, instead of reading 1000 applications.

Players are really acting up and dont realize they need a pc, they claim they will host events all day and they will give everyone umbrellas and admins just have powers and they dont help out.

I think it's funny that everyone suddenly want to help other when after this is over and thier not selected they won't help anyone again lol

Same. Before being hired, how many of you actually knew who I was? Didn't play iEra much, only tried it out because Jatz asked me to

I believe that should be one of the basics for being admin? And I believe most players have a computer anyways.

Ahem..... there is a ghost roaming around era.... known for dropping stuff or rewarding players.

So are the admins jast going around and asking pepole or are they looking for pepole that say answering graal questions? Is it to theyr friends or what?

I still don't get it , why are players wanting to be a volunteer staff?
You get picked ,you got picked then good for you and make the server better.
You don't get picked ,bad for you . Enjoy the game.
Why are most player of Era wanting to be an staff ??
What's so special?Most of the people out there can't do anything if they get hired but why are they still trying?

lol i think the people who get hired will be people who didnt ask to be hired cuz they will start to annoy admins soon

I believe the admins already is annoyed. Getting pms spammed, getting feedback spammed, and more. They do pick people who don't ask, at least on Classic.

Is this a question so you know what to do, or what? Of course it's good that people answers questions. This is perfect timing for new players. But do it to become admin, nah, not good.

They can pretend the hiring is over and see if players still help or were only playing "nice" then they can see people worthy probably :)

My thought is that they never say they hire, they just hire people they have in mind, or think will do great as an admin. To say that they stop hiring after just one day would be alittle weird.

It's nice to see so many players being friendly. Makes a change.

Advice to PRA: when you hire, don't tell the whole world. Keep it private.

May seem weird but. Admins can give players a little bonus or reward for being a mature/nice player. Not just for hires.

Well, guess I'm not making the cut, considering I'm pretty anti-social on graal.. Haha. Well I guess we'll see who they hire this time.. Hopefully they don't get fired within the first week. :/

IMO they should have never announced they were hiring if they were going to do it this way. Now everyone is acting fake, so annoying.
