hat mannequin

i had this idea to where a feature could be added which allows other players to trade hats using the new furniture item in MoD town. the players choose which hats they wanna trade, they put the hat on the furniture (mannequin) and the other player grabs it and switches hats, the player then could collect his hat from the mannequin. I dont see how this would mane EC less money, your pretty much giving money to buy the mannequin, and your just simply trading.

Or just "borrowing" hats where a player can use the hat on the mannequin until they switch hats. But that could cause some problems with some lending tower guild hats.

Tough ****, dont just leave it sitting there in the open.

Blueh 08-18-2012 02:24 AM

"OMG!!!1!!1! Inv to house and I trade u super rare hat! No scam! U put hat down first!"

I guarantee you you'd be seeing a whole load of that if it happened.

Carnage 08-18-2012 03:34 AM

put hat down first? its not a drop system.

Tyler 08-18-2012 04:03 AM

Does it really allow you to trade hats?

Blueh 08-18-2012 04:08 AM

It wont work if you don't have the hat.

Dusty 08-18-2012 04:40 AM

If trading were ever implemented it should be done proper with a full-fledged trading system.

On the otherhand it'd be interesting to see things like this inherit shop mechanics, and allow players to outright buy these items from other players. But again, as far as I know staff aren't too keen on the idea of implementing trading.

Because Unixmad loses his bread money?

I don't know, but I doubt that's the reason. Trading/selling still involves gralats, and gralats mean players still buy gralat packs -- Unixmad still makes money. In fact if players were to sell hats they'd probably be selling rare hats and rare hats mean they're not not being circulated anymore: Unixmad wouldn't be making money off of these... but if there were trading these hats would probably sell MUCH higher than shop prices on hats, so chances are it'd be done by someone buying lots of gralat packs.

Anyways, I'm not in a position to say what their reason is.

Blueh 08-18-2012 05:28 AM

Buy gralat packs on booze at MoD town...LOTS of booze. Problem solved.

iDylan 08-18-2012 03:35 PM

Trading hats? NO.

Trading hats? NO.

Why not? It would allow players to obtain hats they've wanted but haven't been able to get due to being unavailable/having no money when it was available. If gralats are used in trading, it would provide a sort of benefit to EC due to gralat pack purchases for trading. It's an overall good idea. Not only that, but rare hats, like my astronaut helmet, would still be rare an valuable due to the same number of hats existing instead of more being put out for sale. So if it's about older, rarer hats becoming common, that's not a problem.

Blueh 08-18-2012 05:29 PM

If it will be allowed there should be certain hats that cannot be traded. Guild hats, Event hats and RPS hats. Make more body and head shops. That way people still buy stuff. If there's a head or body someone likes there and they don't want to pay 10k-20k for a custom; they will buy it. Make them like 3.5k-8.5k, you could still use packs for that. Just be sure there's a lot of them and they're actually good.

I agree with you on the guild hats and everything after RPS hats. Not being able to trade or being able to trade RPS hats wouldn't be an issue because they're so easy to get. I'd like to ask why you don't like event hats being traded though.

Blueh 08-18-2012 06:01 PM

Because it's not fair if someone who didn't earn it receives it. Until it's officially sold, then it shouldn't be up for trade. It isn't that big of a deal if event hats are traded or not but it's more fair if they aren't.

Edit: I should say any hat that is earned rather purchased (GST, Tower, RPS, Quest, etc) should not be tradable.

I see. Then I agree with you completely. ^-^

Let people win their hats and work for them. Screw trading.

So what your basically saying is a more complicated and unsafe trading system?

Blueh 08-19-2012 05:08 AM

If this were to work, it would have to exclude the earnable hats I suggested earlier. It would also require midori'x trade system concept where they compare prices so you know what you're dealing with. Then, it would also require the same shop system where you preview what it looks like on your head. That way, you'd be sure and satisfied with your trade.

Ryan's on the ball here. Instead of this, how 'bout an actual trading system? The mannequins can still be used for... well, mannequins.

Also, guild hats should be tradable. Come at me.

agreed

Psycher! 08-19-2012 03:30 PM

Well, Blueh's basically got it, although I still think event hats could be traded, as a lot of events are luck based and not really earned and that few of them exist in some event hat cases. Or maybe someone doesn't like their prize. Guild hats, RPS hats, and any other earnable hats shouldn't be tradable. Currently sold hats show a price, while hats that are unavailable wouldn't show a price to signify that it isn't/never was sold. I forgot everything else I was going to say. ._.
