You don't get free gold, but you do not have to have a gold subscription to access the server.

You get RC though, correct? Is there a way for iOS servers to distribute RC without gold?

As I said before, you don't need a gold subscription to access the server. I don't understand what you mean when you say iServers distribute RC without gold.
