Actually Rock has a HUGE different sense of music added to it.

You can tell rock is a little calmer than metal because metal is all crazy.

Rap or Rock, I like them all but have never been a real metal fan. I think I'd have to say that I like Rap the most though.

And @Labyrinth what kind of rap do you listen to? Like what artists?

I don't like screamo.
Screamo is a genre unto itself that is commonly and ignorantly used to label other metal genres that contain screaming.

People sometimes just stick with rap music. It is calm for dá soul.

It's a shame that most of the mainstream audience labels rock and metal as screamo. Their primary argument is that it's talentless and you can't understand the lyrics, yet as soon as they're done saying that they go back to listening to Nicki Minaj and Gangem Style.

Anyone who listens to mainstream hip hop has no right to say that any other genre of music requires no talent.

People think the screaming takes no talent either. Wrong.
I'd like anyone with that opinion to try screaming the same way.

I use screamo as an umbrella term for all the sub 'core' genres. It saves just a ton of pain while explaining what music you're into to an ignorant person.
Anywho, i'm into Post-Hardcore, and Metalcore mainly but sometimes i listen to acoustic or pop-punk stuff.

Metal's my favorite genre. Rock is okay, but the guitar solo's just aren't as exciting. Hip hop can be fun at times, but I rarely listen to it.
