so I login to check an email and I see this bland boxxy stupid bull****...
I hate this...my 2 main email accounts are live (hotmail) accounts too.

could they have come up with a more boring design?

Is this the age of **** updates? Youtube, Yahoo, Hotmail, Windows, and soon enough Skype. They don't listen to the comments either. They're pretty much saying "Here's our new layout. Learn it, use it, love it. We'll know you'll use our site anyways."

I love the new one, why are you guys afraid of change? I especially like the windows 8 style :)

Back in the design from 2001 to 2011, they used to make it very complex with bitmaps and images everywhere, whose seemed nice to view it as 'epic'. But it the last two years, the most recent design was squares, with different lightning colors, which makes your OS faster and is relatively more 'epic' by being simple. I love simple.

Gmail already has the minimalistic design. If MS is going that way too then I'm switching to everything to my gmail and keeping the hotmail for xbox only, unless they've allowed you to use other domains since I last changed my email on there.

I prefer the Windows 8 metro app more than this.

Not that bad to me. Didn't change layout really and it's not ugly, so I'm cool with it. There are bad updates, like Youtube's recent update... and this isn't one of them imo.

Skype is still okay to me. (As long as they don't do that nasty horrible thing AIM did to their layout maybe a year or so ago, I'm perfectly fine!)
