Graphic Stimulus Plan
Graphic Stimulus Plan
I am a graphic artist, and I along with many non-graphic artists would agree that current art leaves something to be desired. I am not talking about hats, buildings, or any of the work that the staff has done. I am talking about the work that everyone is doing in general. There is very little new original work. People without customs all look the same, and people with customs are all using the same customs. They are recoloring and adding little things to them, but overall, there is very little creativity. I think that this has to do with the fact that there is very little incentive to do the hard work that is required in creating original material. This is why I am proposing the creation of a new graphic upload system: custom vendors. Custom Vendors People have code shops at their house, but overall, its the same crap in all of them with a extremely ineffective method of paying for it. Why not make a shop that actually works well? The custom vendor sells customs in someone’s house, they sell like a bomb and arrow vendor, except that it would be more like a body or head vendor in your house. There would be a different type for each custom; a head vendor and a body vendor. An example of how it would work: Step 1: The artist uploads their custom using the current method at tinyurl.com/classicupload Step 2: The artist buys the custom vendor for 50,000. Step 3: The artist puts the vendor in their house. Step 4: The artist grabs the vendor and their custom is now sellable in their house. Step 5: They open their house and let customers browse their customs. Step 6: A customer buys the custom, 10% of it goes to the artist. Benefits Artists and designers can open up boutiques and stores and sell their things to other people. This will increase the creativity and progress of graphics with economic competition to provide the best product. More players will learn graphical design, and the game will enjoy a renaissance of art and economic prosperity. Because of the high price of the custom vendor, the players will be sure to make original and good work that will sell. Players who normally would try to pay for someone to upload a custom for them, and would get scammed now have a reliable way of uploading in-game. Upload scamming is probably the most common scamming in the game. Feedback I’d love to hear what you think of the idea and if you have anything you’d like to add onto it. |
Sword and shield codes were meant to be available to all -save for personals. No bargain.

This is only head and body vending, sorry if that was unclear.

There's still a flaw in this. What if another person uploads another artist's GFX then sells it in their house without the original artist's permission? Sure, custom stealing happens regardless but this is just an open invitation.

This idea won't change the fact people are doing edits, it will just encourage it. |
You make a good point, that is definitely a flaw.
It will change the fact people are doing edits because people who make original things will get more business than the ones who just edit a old graphic. Business encourages innovation. |
It's a decent idea, I just don't think the Graal community would use it as it is supposed to be used. I can see this being abused a lot and the only way to reduce that is to have staff frequently do back checks to make sure something isn't stolen, however, they have better things to do than that I believe.

Another possibility is that with this, people will start using these private in-game vendors instead of going to sites like graaldepot where graphics are stolen. Its far fetched, but those sites may stop uploading graphics due to failing popularity, and artist boutiques would become the new hot way of getting customs.
To be honest though, I would really just like to see some trading, economy, and money exchange stuff. I feel like it would add a lot to the game. |
What we really need is more baby head designs.

I agree on the part of selling things to people, the custom vendor? not that much
