I remember when they did this is a while ago in australia or something for 20 billion downloads i think

They've done this several times. One billion downloads, ten billion, and (I think) twenty-five billion.

The counter on the website is for novelty purposes only, it isn't accurate, it just runs on a script. So don't bother trying to time it perfectly based on the counter, it won't work.
