I say make it like on classic where you if you say something you have enough time to read it before it disappear.

A way to block players in a team event would be nice, too. People spam the gang chat to be funny, and all it does is annoy the players who use gang chat for teamwork and more useful functions.

I actually like Era's chat system better than classic, you choose when it goes away, but this spamming is seriously uncalled for.
