Pacific Rim - Opening Weekend!

Initially I was not that ecstatic about this film. Now, I'm way too hyped after learning more about it. I'm more excited about this movie than any other movie this year. Guillermo del Toro has a great track record and is known for his lush and inspired sets and use of practical effects. The special effects in this movie seem to be using a far more unique style than something you would expect from transformers. It has a fresh rating on rotten tomatoes and has been getting generally positive reviews across the board. There hasn't been a major movie in the giant monster genre since Cloverfield so this movie is going to be huge (no pun intended) to me. I'm seeing the midnight release with friends and getting a bunch of posters. I'll probably see it again sometime this weekend so I can get a few more posters. This looks like it can be one of the best giant monster flicks in recent memory.

Here is a Japanese poster for Pacific Rim, by Metal Gear Solid designer Yoji Shinkawa. Its going to be given out at Regal Cinemas this weekend if you're interested.

Also, here's the same trailer in Japanese... It feels strangely right to watch the pacific rim trailer in Japanese

Why would you want a poster in Japanese? The movie still looks good though. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to see it. I had to watch Despicable Me 2 with my little sister. That movie wasn't bad either.

Its not really for the words, its for the art.

Indeed. But I'd like all my posters in a language I can actually understand.

Just got back from the midnight showing of Pacific Rim. Got an awesome poster. Oh yeah, the movie was amazing too. The use of vibrant colors throughout the film was crazy-stunning; I don't think I've seen special effects like that anywhere else. Everything just felt whimsical and energetic. It was like a live action anime. You guys gotta see this in IMAX 3D. Wow.

This was the poster I ended up getting:

Ummm if the movie poster is for Pacific Rim what do you think the big words centered on the poster say?

When's the last time a high budget western mech movie came out. Anyone who's not going to see this is silly.

I went to see Grown Ups 2 instead. HILARIOUS

This movie looks too fake for my liking.
