Retarded

Does anyone else get treated like they are "special", ******ed and slow because they are socially awkward even though you are smarter than the other person.

Oh yeah and I've recently noticed that people that I stalk on twitter from my school tweet things like "I'm incredibly socially awkward" when they are not at all. It really annoys me...
While there are people who are fighting for years against a mental disease there are also other people who seem to think it's cool to have those diseases. It's clearly silly, but at least it raises awareness, I suppose? Not awareness in the right way though. It doesn't raise awareness in the right way though. Like I said, there are people really struggling with it. When people talk about having those illnesses when they don't and trivialize it, it hurts the image that we want to present. If you have a bunch of teens claiming they are Bipolar for example because it's cool to be "moody" and "creative", it trivializes and misrepresents the hell and torture that real Bipolar Disorder is. It leads to misunderstanding and gives people the impression that BP isn't serious. And that will happen with any disorder teens misrepresent and trivialize.

Being ******ed and being socially awkward are two completely different things. Anyone who calls you a ****** just because you're a bit socially awkward have no idea what ******ation truly is. x.x

This indeed. Anyone calling someone a ****** for being socially awkward must evaluate their own intelligence levels.

I don't, and I aspergers. That doesn't make me ******ed. I'm capable of picking up social cues. It's just a bit harder for me.

you can be as smart as you want, but if you can't interact with people you'll never be successful.

the company i work for had a dinner once i made it to a certain stage of the interview process. a few of the dudes got rejected after that dinner because they were either pricks or didn't talk at all.

what it really boils down to is step outside of your comfort zone and meet people, be social, and don't blame it on other people when it comes to bite you in the ass.

I totally agree with this. It's not about what you know, but who you know, that determines how successful you'll become. Of course, this isn't true for every case, but for the majority it's other people who will decide and pave the way to how successful you end up.

Just step outside of your comfort zones. You can't live in a bubble and expect to be handed success.

My mom and dad always get on me because of school. Since I didn't attend 8th grade graduation, they're really tight on my grades. Most the time, they're just straight up humiliating me. Just because I didn't do well in French, doesn't mean that they can just freak out about it. Besides, I'm taking Spanish instead this year...

Testified.

I wouldnt say people treat me ******ed. I wouldnt even call myself "socially awkward," theres a difference between that and socializing infrequently/rarely. I know how to socialize, but hardly do. But its still obvious that people treat me different. If you cant talk to me like a normal person then dont bother please.
