New Spar LeaderBoard

As Comyt said, Replace the Rating leaderboard and replace it with Day/Week/Total spars like the PK leaderboard. So instead of selectively sparring for rating, this will make you have to spar alot more & jump rooms less if you want to stay on the leaderboard. I'm not kissing up to Comyt or anything but this idea is really good.

Assuming by selectively sparring, you're facing 'noobs':

Selectively sparring for rating is an extremely inefficient way of gathering points. By the time you're at 7 - 8k points, you'd be earning around 1-2 points per win and losing 100. Selectively sparring for W/L ratio is extremely efficient way, and easy way of gathering wins. Your suggestion would honestly make the system even more skewed, as players would hop rooms more to face easier opponents.

That's true, I guess it only sounded good. I haven't really looked at the cons of this yet. But maybe replace the spar rating. A lot of people use the 350 glitch?(I'm not sure if its 350 or 250)But maybe something new to make spar more enjoyable

Rezon pretty much explained the myth about "selective sparring" and getting leaderboard points for it so I'll pass on that, but a leaderboard based on daily wins is just stupid to me. It's no different than what the PKing board offers and doesn't really reflect any level of skill at all, and it should because sparring is one of the few things on that game that leaves room for that.

I'm still pretty convinced that this leaderboard model is better than anything else I've read about or thought of, but I just don't see administrators changing it any time soon. It just makes more sense to me to have a leaderboard for sparring that rewards players for sparring the better sparrers and winning against them more often than just having a leaderboard that says who won the most times in a day.

100% agreed, because on a "most wins" leaderboard there is absolutely zero risk for this selective sparring that you're talking about. On the current leaderboard, there is.

Again though, there's nothing wrong with the current leaderboard system itself. The problem is the people who abuse it and exploit it. The PC leaderboard has been really clean example for a long time.

That. ^ the thread link. I agree with that. I think your idea in that thread is better then this. I like the point idea, making it harder to get #1 on the leaderboard.

Either new model for the leaderboard is progressive because it'd encourage people to spar more actively, if nothing else. No leaderboard system is going to prove who "the best" is for more than a short period of time, so I'll support anything that makes people spar more often.

http://www.graalians.com/forums/show...1&postcount=15 helps explain why the points system I outlined is a more favorable solution, because it doesn't rely entirely on who is the most active sparrer or the most skilled. It's a balance between the two.

See, I would rather people spar for fun and enjoy sparring instead of sparring to get high on the leader-boards by selectively sparring. IMO,There should be maybe 2-3 admins trying to make the Spar Community better.

I would love a leader board like this.

2nd paragraph. ^ I would love to have this as a spar ranking system

Yeah, I agree. But the iDevice leaderboard's been pretty bad. Considering I heard Comyt used the 350 glitch to get his rank/rating

This is true, spar rating is a good representation. All "selective sparring" will achieve is higher W-L.
