Let's split the server

Today, I was gsing with my friends in Battle Arena. Leah (admin) was hosting an event. All sudden when she given out the second hint that warper is in Graal city. Everyone in Graal city starting to freeze and teleport. It's definitely not the admin's fault for hosting an event. It's the server manager's fault for keeping server like this, when we can't hold over 2000 players at one spot. I am pretty sure some people instantly crashed due to the lag. It's not intentionally made up. It's really hard to blame anyone now. Server itself is a big problem.

So I think the greatest way to solve the problem is spliting the server up.
One for role-playing server. All none pk area. People can just hang out anywhere without any danger.
One for tower and pk server. All pk zone area. Anyone can start the fight in anywhere, even in water. In order to leave the server, you must wait 10 seconds without fighting. If you suddenly turn off the game. Your character stay on remaining 10 seconds. When the countdown is over your character disappears.
And the last one for event only. You can only enter the server when admin announce it on pm. So you can't head start waiting in certain place. It's all fair.

It's just an idea, tell me if you agree or not. If you agree I will kiss you, if you don't I will diss you. :)

I've also been considering this today as well, especially if the player count is going to rise as it is. It's not just events that trigger mass lag, it's anytime something is released. I don't think this is an appropriate way of splitting it though; activities are not so evenly divided as it all plays together as one game. I highly doubt that it will ever be split up at all either way.

No, don't you remember the facebook server? Towering and event was too easy on the facebook ones and people often change the server for their own beneficial. I think spliting server up by main subject is a great idea.
I often find it "unfair" getting killed by another player while I am role playing wth my friends. Sometimes people follow us to get free kills and it's really hard to farm in swamp now, because people pk all day.

You must have a vote on Facebook page.

A large part of the fun in PKing is that people do not want to be killed and having a stream of people to kill. A lot of that 'stream' comes from people who are roleplaying, and that is why the world map is free-for-all and that is why there are insides to go in. Having a server dedicated to this would be as useful as the "PK Center" level was. This is what I mean by 'activities are not so evenly divided' because pretty much everything depends on each other. Events do not, but there is not a constant stream of them to warrant its own server and there never will be.

There won't be a poll placed on the Facebook page because it is not the staff's decision to implement something like this. We couldn't do it, and adding a poll out of nowhere wouldn't change anything if the owners of the game just don't want to do it. I have a feeling that they won't.

The problem is currently when many players are in a single level, lag increases exponentially. That is why the server grinds to a halt when events and new stuff are released. All the players crowd a single level, which increases server load.

Even if the server is split, this is still going to occur. To a lesser degree, but it will still happen. And if the server is upgraded, it will still probably happen because of the nature of this lag.

So you just blamed the manager because there is a high playercount? That's actually something a manager should aim for. And three servers would be a waste of money, you would have three empty servers at the end

Would it made the server crashes?

Do we not remember the last time we had two servers? Ya lets not do that again. Theres no way youre ever going to be able to divide the player count even close to in half.

Remember when the theatre opened in Deadwood?

This is the only problem...

Yeah stefan needs to upgrade the server.

However, I do like the idea of splitting the server.

The reason the facebook/iPhone system didn't work was because you needed a VIP subscription to even access the facebook server from an iOS device. Hardly anyone uses facebook to play, so that's why the server was dead.

Player interest in pking vs non pking seems split roughly evenly, so I'm strongly convinced the playercount on each would be reasonable granted you don't need VIP for either.

Thats my point. iPhones were able to access the "facebook server" and PCs could access "iPhone server" with VIP; it made no sense really. And besides, to this day, there are still significantly more iDevice players than PC, so even if there was a strict division between devices, it wouldnt work.
