GFX Thieves

I'm sorry if this is confusing, this thread is no artwork so that is why i didn't put it under the creative corner. Anyway.. Many Graalians are complaining that their gfx are being stolen. I know that ifile is a download browser and all that, but there has to be a way to stop it. Does anyone know if there is a way that you can reroute the downloads and store them in a Staff Database? Or is there a way that you can reject any user that has a jailbroken device to enter the playing fields of Graal? There has to be a way to stop thieves from stealing gfx. As a pixel artist, it upsets me that people steal some of the things i made. I was also wondering if it would be possible to have the option to upload your head as a personal head, so that no one else can use it, just like personal shields. Hopefully many of you reading this thread want to stop these graphics thieves from stealing your creations. If you have any ideas please post them below. I would gladly appreciate it. Thank you for listening.

Graal always downloads the game files. Else you wouldnīt see them. So no you canīt disable it. Also you canīt force the iDevice not to open something in iFile. Also not giving jailbroken people access to the iServers would lower the playercount dramaticly and with that, also the money GraalOnline earns. Actually itīs profit for them if people steal heads, since players are actually uploading their stuff (and buy Gralat Packs for that some times). Also there is always a way, to get through the "barrier" of Graal files on any jailbroken device.

Heads are always personal, until they get stolen. Same for shields (can also get stolen). There is never a real way to proofe that you actually made the graphic.

Wouldnt work, Uploaders wont remember every head and the uploader, also if it does get stolen, then think of what the maker will do, most likely rage about it being promised PERSONAl and having it stolen.

The head wont be stolen if the file is personal.

But at the same time many graalians aren't uploadng their customs since they are afraid of them being stolen resulting in less money being earn for graal. There has to be a way to stop people from stealing heads.

As a pixel artist you would know by now there is nothing you can or cannot do but be thankful that people use your work. Reporting it is the best thing to do if you really want it removed but in the future someone will always edit/recolor your work.

PANDA :D but anyway, its different on era. Most admins ignore you unless you are friends with them. I have some admin friends and all that but im talking for all graal.

Sadly if there was a way to stop it, it still wouldn't be done. They are making money off it. And even if cutting off jail broken players would stop gralat hacking and such, it would cut off the graal population as people that dont want to restore will quit. And that would also reduce population... So as horrible as it is and as much as gfx hate it, as for now all you can rely on is the chance that a nice staff member will help you out.

No one is thankful people use their work because some of them don't even give the original creator credit or ask permission. I really wish they'd stop calling these customs personal because I think we all know they lost that name from the very beggining.

You would probably have to re-script entire sections of the application and gserver to get this going. Making temporary downloads could most likely fix this.

The next time I see a thread like this...
there's a simple solution. JUST PUT A COPYRIGHT ON IT. YOU WANT AN EXAMPLE? TRY MONKEY (NPC)'S CUSTOMS. I don't get why this is so hard.

General_s2 12-01-2011 06:33 AM

i totally agree, i few months ago i made a head it was just mine for a cuple of weeks to a nub stole it and gave it away its also happened with a few shields to i HATE it.

Are you fking kidding me? wth is wrong with u?

Higbey 12-02-2011 04:17 AM

Copyright can't be used due to you giving up all rights to it if you submit it to graal. Basically you could copyright it and not submit it then threaten to sue whoever steals it. Of course suing over a pixelated head is a waste.

Maikeru 12-02-2011 08:01 AM

Ugh... Here we go again:
Players who upload their head/body should know that once they upload it, the license of the head/body becomes Graal classic's property.

You can only request to remove the head/body from the entire game itself (which includes the removal of your head/body from you aswell) to prevent theft.

If you do wish to remove it, admins have the right to refund you only half of the original price (No exceptions. Its stamped right in the info kiosk in Graal town)

If you don't want your GFX stolen, then do not upload it! How hard is that!?!
