Instruments General

I'm pretty pissed and the only way I can justify venting my anger on Graalians is by staying on topic.
This is an instruments thread, if you are interested in learning/are learning/or want to give advice to others this is your thread.
A guy nonchalantly walked into the music centre today with his fiancee (I think) wearing his Rayban aviators and his guitar and I could smell his perfume from a 5 metre radius.
He started arrogantly talking about how good he is for a 3 year player so I asked him to play something for me.
What did that self-proclaimed pro play? The first verse of Smoke on the damn water and he didn't even play it correctly.
I later found out that this is the only thing he can play.
This just angers me.
So what instrument(s) do you play, Graalians?
PS:Also I don't know if this is the correct subforum and if it's not could a mod move it and please sticky it

Loving that little story you've got there. Well, I've been playing piano for what might be a little over 2 years now and I really enjoy it. Piano is pretty easy to pick up on and they just sound majestic, definitely worth the time learning to play.

I'm glad you liked it.
Yeah if I had the ability to rewind time and rechoose I'd definitely do both guitar and piano but I was a lazy bastard back in the day.

I've taken lessons for guitar, piano and violin but I'd hardly call myself an expert at any of them.

Well I haven't played in a few years and I returned again this week because I don't want the learning to go to waste, I'm still trying to remaster moving my fingers efficiently while changing chords.
The main reason however is the song In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, because it motivated me again (I wanted to play it badly)

I played piano ever since I was 5.

By the time I was 11 I got sick and tired of it and just quit.

I've been playing piano for about 5 or 6 years now, and I am planning to drop the saxophone (which I've been playing for 3 years). I can't play much on either instrument, as I play by memory and am horrible at sight reading sheet music.

LOL @ ur story.. some people get so cocky when they learn music, unfortunately :(

I play piano, a bit of guitar (not too much since it was mostly self taught), and voice. My piano skills aren't actually as up to par as they should be for the amount of time I've been playing (11 years)... I avoid the technical work and just like playing around, making my own things. I'm double majoring in Creative Writing and Music now though, so I'm going to be trying to get my piano skills up. Even though my music major will be focused on composing.

Saxophone lessons here are very expensive :(

I used to sing in choir in like 2nd grade because I had 'an angels voice', but later God answered my prayers and my voice cracked prematurely in 6th grade. It got gradually deeper that I could sing bass for a short period of time until it got a bit lighter.
I think I'm baritone now?

I played the saxophone for about 5 years now. Recently, I bought a Conn 1928 New Wonder Series II Saxophone. If you are looking for saxophone adivce/help I suggest going to the forum http://forum.saxontheweb.net/forum.php
