No one is forced to 'work' for a server.
It's voluntary and some people enjoy doing it else they wouldn't have applied.

Browse around the official forums for a bit, carefully reading his posts, acknowledge the general lack of forward progress this game has made in the past 15 years (first 3ish were good, then it fell off...), and ask yourself that question.
