Sword and shield template questions
 

I have recently decided to make custom shields and swords. But the official sword template seems to have parts of the sword cut off, like the trail, hilt, etc. If I upload the sword template with as much filled in as the guidelines let me, will the sword turn out okay? And I also want to make a shield featuring the sword on my back, from all different sides. but again, the sides of the template that shows a body have parts of the body cut off. Can I just make the shield using no template and just have it show the different sides of the shield?

If you want a sword on your back, this is probably one of the best templates for it.

Is this the template you use for the sword? If so, yes it will come out normal.

Sword: yes, your sword will look fine. The sword is layered under the player image. The template's forward (up) -facing frames cut off part of the sword because your player's body would hide the rest anyway.

Shield: no. shields must be made with one of the templates (im 90% sure), but there are several different templates to choose from.

edit: or instead of making a shield, a body with sword on back is probably a better idea as valiant said

you'd definitely be better off making a body but there is a full body template. the body is supposed to be cut off. if you found it off of that blogspot, its the right template to use.

if you want a sword to appear across your back while looking away from the screen is not possible with the shield templates. If you want a sword to appear on your back while you're looking sideways its possible(just use the wing template).

When it comes to back view and side views, the body takes priority in-game(meaning any part of the shield that touches the body comes out invisible in-game, something that has to do with what takes priority so graphics dont look ******ed. Example hats take priority over heads in order for them to work properly)

this shield might help you understand what i mean, it was uploaded by one of my buddies. Even though its placed on the back it does not appear in-game as a whole.

Thank the 20+ other people who have it as well, you uploaded a graphic to a game so it is now the games property and anyone has the right to use it.

did you make that body from scratch? and that sword looks very similar to the one in the link body. Did you mean thanks for posting your template that you created from other peoples graphics? If you made the body and sword disregard my post.

no its more of a collaboration, however i don't know who first created the sheath, and thus couldn't credit it (to myself, or whoever did the sheath), only thing i did was

-position the sword for fluent animation,
-edit the side views so there is a distinct difference between right and left views (belt)
-re-index it for color changing.

which isn't much, but it took forever on my 15yearold pc which is what i had to work with at the time. Plus that body was suppose to be a ventrue exclusive until everyone and their mother started posting it wether it be on websites or player-to-player.

It's more or less the fact that other people post it, that had nothing to do with it. collab or otherwise.

and then it only makes me more upset when i have people say "oh, anyone could have just slapped a sword on the back of the default body!" ... well, why didn't anyone do it except me? and ya, there is other bodies that have a sword on the back, but mine is the only one i know of that can color change, until some other people took this direct sword sheath edit, and put it on the female body, and the suit and tie body.
