Contacting Authority (The Complete Guide)
INTRODUCTION Okay, I've noticed a lot of people asking me or people in general how to contact authority on Era. People are treating this like a big deal. Its not that hard. I may note this is only of you have no staff members as friends or are having trouble getting a hold of one. Some staff in the list below have their facebook and/or emails listed. PLEASE do not spam them, thanks. Also, if you are staff and wish to donate your Facebook, Email, or such, please tell me. Here is a list of the current staff and what they do (Of my knowledge. If ANYTHING is forgetton, left out, spelled wrong, incorrect information, and such, please feel free to tell me. Also, if something is phrased oddly or offensively, tell me too.) Feel free to ask me anything! I was hired for PR :) STAFF POSITIONS PR. PRA. GFX. SFX. LAT. Admin. GA. Developer. Co-Manager. Manager. So what does all this mean? Let me explain. PR means Player Relations. They are basically in charge of dealing with the wants and needs of the players, answering questions, and such. PRA is a Player Relations Admin. They are above the PRs, and are in charge. They basically do all the same things PRs do but also mantain Hiring new Staff and keep the PRs on track. GFX means Graphics Administator. These staff members do the beloved Graphics for Era. Keep in mind, not only the GFX do Graphics. Some comes from regular players. SFX are in charge of composing the sounds and music you hear every day in Graal - from walking to the noise your gun makes. LAT means Level Adminstration Team. These staff make the layers on Graal. This is basically the terrain, the buildings, everything your standing on. Heck, the placement of the tables and chairs were put in place by LAT. OF course, everything was originally drawn by the GFX though. Admin is Administator. There is really only one Adminstrator, who is WDM. He does, well.. to tell the truth, I'm not exactly sure. But if you know, please tell me. GA is Guns Adminstrator. They deal with all stuff Guns. Simple enough. Developers do anything and everything. That's all I need to say. Co-Manager (as said by Bboy) means they are a manager of the general gameplay and items but has lower power right than the Manager. The Manager can overrule the Co-Manager on any argument. Finally, Manager. That's SNK. He's pretty nice and will talk to you if you have important needs or good ideas. He's in charge of all the above people. But only contact him if there is no one else who fits the job. Some things that are okay to talk to him about are ideas for Era, and such. See? Era has quite an extensive staff team, and some of which are destined to have PMs open and willing to talk. They may not always be on, but keep in mind they aren't mindless zombies to do your bidding. TALKING TO STAFF POLITELY How to get good, useful help from staff is another thing I get. People keep saying that they just don't or won't respond! They are often swamped with PMs, and wait until they add them up, than read them all at once. Even than, they may not respond to yours. But if you do want them to respond, treat them with respect and don't be a baby. They are regular players just like you and me who happen to also want to enjoy the game, even though they do have some extra jobs on their hands! Don't ask for things you don't deserve, like items or such, because even if they could give these things away without getting fired, they most likely wouldn't to any other player. To get ahold of one, first do the following things: 1. Think about your question. Is it obvious? If so, don't ask it. Is it about something they aren't aloud to answer? These things are also obvious (includes release, details about firing and such.) Is it well written with no text talk? Is it a smart question? Are you begging for things? Bad idea. Are you begging at all? Sorry, but begging or asking things is very immature. Get it yourself, and if you can't, tough luck. Whining to them isn't gonna get you free items. It's just going to make staff annoyed. Is it an account transfer? Theres a forum thread for that! Stop asking for one and find out who to do it! Wanna be an adiam? Too bad. Asking for it also won't get you it. Work for it instead, and make smart decisions and learn to spell "Admin", then learn the correct term is Staff. Is it asking for an event? Unless you know the staff well and know they like events and are free, chances are it isn't happening. Just wait for events to start! They're usually held throughout the day. 2. If reasonable, ask a few friends first. Chances are they will know! If they don't, think about what you're talking about. Who would be the best to contact? 3. If your friends don't know, try the forums or feedback (if you have a Graal Facebook.) Chances are someone on THERE will know! 4. Are you asking for a doll, statue or wedding? These things aren't the jobs of PRs. I can't stress this more seeing I get asked for this constantly. Our job is to answer questions, ban and jail, and help players in general. Please accept we might not want to go out of our way or use the little spare time we have to do these things. 5. Do you know if they are busy? If they have clearly broadcasted they are hosting events (or have an events tag on) or are answering questions on a roof or such, please don't ask for things. We can't copy ourselves and send out a doppleganger to meet you. 6. Think before you PM. PMing things like "u r admin" or "r u admin" is kind of annoying when we are trying to do our job. 7. Can it be simply PMed? You have no idea how many people PM me "plz come to my gh plz ty" or "warp to me/come 2 me ty" when they could just PM me the question. Often we're multitasking (patrolling for glitchers/hackers, hosting events, FAQing or such) and don't exactly have the time to warp to someone or go to their house (also, we can't easily enter houses. It's possible (i think), but is hard, So its really a hassle. If you can, PM us. It's way easier. 8. Still having trouble? If its a complicated problem, contact [email protected]. If its a short and reasonable question, talk to one of the staff in the Directory! Be nice and if they can't help you or are obviously at unease with the topic, leave them alone. Being pushy is not welcome when they have 700 graalians to work with and not much time. Also, Feedback and Report are useful too! Feedback is mainly for ideas and such. (Can be acessed through Menu > Feeback). Reporting is for, well, reporting players. You should only report IF: they are hacking, glitching, sexually/generally harrasing you or someone else, being racist, adult material and such. (Can be acessed through Profile> More Options > Report.) One more thing. Era has it's own email for general purposes as said before. Submit ideas (that are too long to put in feedback) or graphics, or just ask a question! It's easy enough to understand. [email protected]. Try not to spam it, but it is there! WHAT NOT TO SAY Things like "I got scammed" can be done nothing about, because scamming is indeed legal. It is your fault, yes yours, that you fell for their cunning plan and dropped your possesions. Another thing is "Can I be Admin/Staff/PR/Whatever the heck you want to be". The answer is most likely no. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they usually only hire during Staff openings which you will be informed of on Era's facebook page or through the news. And, asking them to recruit you to a gang, unless stated clearly in the staff member's staus or the Gang's news that they are recruiting, is most likely not appriciated. Most of the gangs owned by Staff are for close friends only. Events and EC as said before is mostly a bad idea. Most staff will not attend your party unless you're a close friend. (Woah!! Staff have friends?! They have lives and jobs and emotions?! This is news to me... not. Just because a staff member can't do something at the moment doesn't mean they're bad staff. It means their human.) Last but most definitly not least, asking staff for objects such as weapons or rare objects (anything, really) is not going to get you anywhere. Giving players items, unless with permission, is not smiled upon and may result in the following staff being fired or such. You may also end up in trouble. LANGUAGE IS IMPORTANT TOO Now, for the actual language you should use. (Why yes, this is a very long Guide). Try not to speak in txt tlk (Text Talk, that was just my example). Be polite, and if they say they can not or do not want to do something, accept that. We aren't all perfect and they can not do certain things. Some things, they also just don't know. Amazing, yes? No. They are human beings too. Treat them with respect. Correct grammar, spelling, and puncuation is not only recommended when speaking to staff but when typing at all. This also goes along with don't use text talk. Is it really that hard to put periods, commas, capitalize, and spell out you? I mean, really? STOP SUCKING UP I felt I had the need to add this section. Sucking up is pointless. Insulting them is also pointless. Think about it this way: pretend they aren't staff. They're still human beings. Now they are staff. Still... human... beings. That means they can tell when you only care about them because their staff. If they suddenly got fired, would you still like them? Probably not. Most staff are 'liked' depending on how tolerant they are and how little time they spend with their friends (what?) and how much the obey your every command. But thats now how people should decide what staff they like or not. Because really what makes a good staff member is maturity, dedication, the ability to treat people with respect and be treated with respect, patience, knowledge, their temper and such things. So please stop saying staff are 'bad' because they wont give you a BAR or host an event. Also, don't suck up. Just don't. It's rude, obnoxious and inconsiderate. Oh and selfish. SPECIAL THANKS TO... Anyway, good guide to getting a hold of staff. Hopefully, it might get players to send useful and informative messages instead of invalid questions. |
