Help with the bear quest?
 

The fancy schmancy bear thing that lets you morph into a bear recently came out, so I found a guide for it on YouTube. Everything was working just fine until I came up to the chief's hut. They say he's supposed to ask me for a necklace or something, but I get nothing of the sort. This is what I get instead:

I'm assuming this is the dialogue you get before you do everything prior to this.
But I already have the translation book! Did I skip a step? Look at him the wrong way? Am I not destined to be fuzzy and brown and deadly with a top running speed of 30 miles per hour? ;~;

No one was of any help. They either asked me to go to their house to go through a maze for steps or had no idea what I was talking about. Lol.

I did go off of a YouTube video at first, but I didn't see what I was doing wrong, so I came here :3.

Getting the translation book
1) Go to the top left of the main island
2) Jump off the cliff
3) Head up, then right in the water till you see a circle of rocks
4) Dive in the middle of the rocks
5) Follow the clear and obvious path until you've seen a hollow tree that is close to the cliff
6) Attempt to jump in the tree by jumping off the cliff (Running down)
7) If you cant its obviously the wrong tree
8) You'll see remains of a single person, dig around it, don't jump off the cliff till you've found the note buried under the dirt
9) Take the note or whatever you wanna call it to the head archeologist in the dig site
10) Hold up the note and he will take it from you running towards the cave you found it in
11) No need to take the same path, just run back in the cave and you'll climb up a ladder
12) Talk to the Head Archeologist again and he will give you a translation book of notes
13) You can now talk to the natives
Getting the bear hat & Morph
1) Goto the top right or find the tent the head native is in
2) He will be wearing a brown bear hat, hold your shovel in your items and talk to him
3) He will ask you a favor to find his old necklace, accept it
4) Make sure to read what he tells you carefully, the location for his necklace varies and can be anywhere different
5) Once you've located the necklace, go back to the chief native and he will reward you with the bear pelt hat
6) You now have the hat, find the tent that another native is in (Below or next to the fan tent, he wears a wolf pelt hat) and talk to him
7) He will see your bear hat (Yes you have to have it on) and he will turn you into the bear spirit animal.
Hope this helps, someone can simplify it and make these shorter.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you had to have the shovel equipped. I saw several people stuck at this point. Very good to know.
