Where do you think you'd be without Graal?
I thought this would be an interesting discussion to have to try and see where you think you'd be without Graal, or how you think your life would be different.
Without Graal I would probably would not have discovered Pixel Art or found out I enjoy Game Development. I would most likely be doing a lot more things than I am currently (hang out more, try new things), but then again, I wouldn't have found a lot of cool people I know today through Graal either. Altogether me finding Graal has been a bitter-sweet situation, there's pros and cons to it. What about you? |
Positives
- Met some good friends. - Learned and enjoyed making pixel art. - Killed some time. - Got to temporarily experience the staff side. - Loved sparring and decorating my house. Negatives - Caused supreme addiction and took away most of my social life. - Damaged my eyesight from playing it long nights in a completely dark room. - Spent over $400 of in-app purchases of Gralats. - Discouraged me from continuing pixel art as upload rules became more strict. I'm just glad I was finally able to leave Graal. I don't like the term "quit" because I like to check in on rare occasions. Although I was originally selfish only making custom bodies for myself, I enjoyed sharing them with the rest of the community (just not on Graal Depot). I probably would have stayed longer if my friends hadn't left, but I feel the end result was for the best. |
If I had never played Graal, I would have skipped the eighth grade and gone to high school automatically.
|
I probably would've graduated from 8th grade making my parents slightly more happy.
I was moving that year anyways so I don't think it would've made much of a difference. But hey, I met some of the best/worst people in the world so that's gotta mean something. |
I might have a life. But I'd prob just ve sitting on the couch like I do all the time anyways.

Studying more frequently and living life to the fullest.

Without Graal, my grammars wouldn't be as solid as it is right now. I made some good memories on Graal so I guess you can call that good. Back in like, 2012, I couldn't take my eyes off Graal for a sec because I was so madly addicted to it. My friend irl recommended me to play Graal. Without Graal, my English wouldn't be on this level. (Aha, I've still got a lot to learn) Without Graal, I wouldn't even think of learning scripting. (Just getting started, still don't know much.) My life would've been socially fun if I didn't play Graal, though I'm actually glad I've got to play Graal because it was fun meeting interesting people, seeing their talents. Graal introduced me to things such as anime. I damaged my eyesight playing Graal, but it's not that bad. But now, I'm glad my addiction is ermm, I guess you can say not as "high" as it used to be, I mean I get bored of Graal now. I can actually take my eyes off Graal without caring about it, so I'm quite happy about that.

Graal changed me alot , without graal I wouldve been a terrible person(dont comment on that)
Graal helped me understand other cultures and people and let me know more about the world Graal Helped my social life alot and I dont regret playing it Its helped me in life in general and made me think differently (in a good way) Graal changed my personality and stuff but one thing i do regret is that it did take up my time so I was not really doing much school work. If I did not play graal I wouldve been more academicaly smart. |
Coincidentally the best time of my life (irl) was 2012 to early 2013 which was also the time I played Graal.
The worst time of my life was late 2013 till the first half of 2014, was the time I didn't play Graal. Graal was such a waste of time looking back, but it was worth it. |
In a much better place and happier.

I'm going to count Dinosmash here, another one of Eurocenter's games. All three of us moved on to Graal anyway. Met three great people, two of which are still my best online friends right now and whom I've played with on a daily basis since 2009, and the third, while I don't speak to them anymore, introduced me to a lot of his friends which soon became mine, who I've even met up with in real life, and still talk to today. It's also safe to say the third friend introduced me to more online gaming in convincing me to buy a 360 along with the other two which we all tagged along on for years until we moved to PC gaming.
Easily safe to say that these guys jumpstarted my addiction in gaming, from thousands of hours on Graal to countless more on 360 and PC. They're great guys, I've made a ton of incredible memories with them, and we're still kicking it on CS:GO, League of Legends and whatever other games we can all pick up on Steam. Even as I write this post right now, my 7 hour Skype call with one of them is still going on and we're having a hell of a time in competitive CS. I'm not sure if it's what was exactly "best" for my future, since I was on a great academic path and your typical obedient, by-the-book student with great grades before I got hooked on gaming which distracted me from school a lot and noticeably dropped my grades and work ethic. Could be said that if they didn't, I'd find something else to take gaming's place, but even if that isn't the case, wouldn't have done it any other way. Still would have hit that install button. |
So many people saying they'd be in a better place, lol I'm pretty sure you'd still live in your house, it's not like Graal prevented you from winning the lottery or something.
